Responsibilities:
Conduct orientation sessions for newly hired employeesPlans and coordinates all training programs for all levels of care.Plans and delivers training on procedures for verbal and written reports and records on the observation and care of patients.Trains personnel in determining the differential diagnosis of injuries and illnesses, development of treatment plans, and documentation.Conducts research/development and training on the use of medical equipment that are currently in use or that will be placed in use.Ride alongside field personnel to evaluate crews on their medical skills and procedures on an as needed basis.Assists in developing the budget by recommending supplies, materials, and training opportunities, to include additional hours to add to payroll for purposes of personnel attending in service training while off duty.Attend meetings and prepare reports as requested.Ensures that clinicians maintain certifications, licenses, accreditations, and are performing required patient care benchmark skills.Establishes and maintains documents relative to training, information guides, and procedures affecting the division's activities in the program.Assists in development of CQI Indicators and conducting CQI inquiries on field incidents.Develops lesson plans using standardized software programs and conducts multiple repetitive courses during a training cycle.Provides shift coverage, vacation, and temporary relief as required.Provides other duties in support of the operation as required.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience working as a State Licensed Paramedic or State Licensed Emergency Medical TechnicianUnrestricted EMT or Paramedic license from state of residence and eligible for reciprocity to NY State.American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) ProviderIf Paramedic; AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider and AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) ProviderAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignmentConsiderable knowledge of procedures and techniques for administering medical care.Knowledge of instructional strategies.Skilled in developing and implementing curriculumExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detailExcellent oral and written communication capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree or higher (preferred)NREMT certification (EMT or Paramedic) or obtain within 12 months of hireAHA BLS Instructor, or obtain within 6 months of hire.If Paramedic, AHA ACLS Instructor and AHA PALS Instructor or obtain within 6 months of hireCEVO5 Instructor or obtain within 3 months of hireNAEMT Instructor: PHTLS (if EMT or Paramedic) and AMLS (if Paramedic) or obtain within 12 months of hireIf Paramedic, NYC REMAC, or obtain within 6 months of hire.
