JOB SUMMARY:
The Pediatric Dermatology department is looking to hire a Physician Assistant (PA) to assist in our outpatient clinics. Primary duties will be to provide direct patient care to patients from birth to adolescence with an array of skin conditions ranging from common diagnosis of acne and eczema to more complicated and rare skin diseases. As a PA in our department, you will be part of a team of physicians, fellows, residents, and physician assistants, practicing independently and as an extender. Responsibilities include taking medical histories, performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating skin conditions, ordering and interpretation of tests, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medication. Primary hours will be Monday – Friday, no call is required. Our clinics include sites in San Diego, Escondido, Encinitas, Oceanside, and Murrieta. Rotation through all sites will be expected. Opportunities for continuing education are offered through our morning conferences, Grand Rounds in conjunction with University of California San Diego Dermatology department, and Vascular Lesion Clinic.
This position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. Functions independently in a staff position, implementing the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Performs within the scope of licensures and in accordance with hospital policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs. Also responsible for on-call duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree
Completion of a Physician Assistant Program
Current California Physician Assistant license
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)
DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications (within 1 year of employment)
Medicare Billing number (NPI-National Provider Identifier) (Must obtain within 6 months of employment)
Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission (w/in 1 year of employment)
Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
Successfully complete the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree
Two years of clinical nursing experience with emphasis in specialty area
Experience in specialty area as a Physician Assistant
Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills
Bilingual
The expected hiring range for this position is $67.58 to $92.93
