LTI, Inc.

is looking for individuals who possess a positive attitude and who are customer driven to become a dispatcher!

Summary

Directs and coordinates the pick-up and delivery of inbound and outbound cargo for which LTI, Inc. has agreed to provide ground transportation.

Works with limited supervision with independent decision-making responsibility within the scope of dispatching cargo for LTI, Inc.

This is not a safety sensitive position.

$70,000 - $75,000 annually

Duties & Responsibilities

Directs trucking dispatch of contracted drivers to meet all requirements of external and internal customers, providing exemplary customer service.

Works with suppliers, setting up pick-up and delivery times, making sure they understand our loading requirements, schedules and weight restrictions.

Directs scheduling of shipments and notifies concerned departments or customers of arrival dates.

Directs loading of proper equipment types to proper destinations.

Review barge cargo reports to plan full container and flatbed deliveries.

Enters customer, equipment and a variety of other tracking information into Lynden ILS (Sutwik, Navigator, etc) and Truckmate computer systems.

Adheres to the safety policy of LTI, Inc. and complies with the standards set forth by OSHA, state, local, and industry.

Monitors employee and contractor compliance with company policies on traffic laws and hours of service regulations.

Determines most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation.

Directs daily scheduling of drivers.

Monitors compliance of contracted drivers and interchange carriers to D.O.T., safety and insurance requirements.

Reviews and approves owner operator invoices on a weekly basis.

Works with operations to stay updated with equipment needs per voyage.

Assists in terminal equipment control.

Dependable and consistent attendance required.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum of four years of related job experience in dispatching cargo, preferably in a marine transportation environment.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have working knowledge of CFR 49, Parts 40, 100 thru 199 (Hazmat) 325, 382, 383, 385, 386, 387, 390-397, 399 - Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

CDL desired but not required.

Forklift certification desired but not required.

Other Skills and Abilities

Computer, PC, Typing and 10-key skills required.

Must be familiar with CDL training required of drivers

Extensive knowledge of local business locations and roadways is required

Truck driving experience desirable

Proven time management and multi-tasking skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work under pressure and handle demanding customers’ needs

Must be flexible and adaptive to constant changes and be able to work in high stress environment

Able to work long hours as needed
