At Amazon's Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT), we are tasked with optimizing the fulfillment on customer orders so that we fulfill all orders worldwide in the most intelligent manner while ensuring Amazon customers get their orders on time. The Fulfillment Network Planning and Execution teams own and operate simulation systems that help continually optimize the distribution of tens of millions of products across Amazons warehouses in the most cost-effective manner, utilizing large scale optimization techniques and distributed computing in trying to reduce overall transportation costs while improving the customer experience. We are focused on saving hundreds of millions of dollars using big data technologies, cutting edge science, machine learning, and scalable distributed software on the cloud that automates and optimizes inventory and shipments to customers under the uncertainty of demand, pricing and supply. Watch http://bit.ly/amazon-scot to get the big picture. Key job responsibilities - As the Principal TPM, you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end. Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. - You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside merchants and vendors to develop optimal solutions. - The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. - You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. - As a Principal TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. - An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. - Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role. About the team The Fulfillment Network Planning team owns and operates optimization and simulation systems to guide Amazon's outbound fulfillment network design and capacity planning. The team is currently spread across Austin, TX and Seattle, WA. The team is multi-disciplined comprising of research science, business intelligence, product management and software development. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
