Company: AVANGRIDDepartment: Protection & ControlJob Title: Associate Engineer - Protection & ControlReports to: Supervisor - Protection & Relaying DesignLocation: Orange, CT; Rochester, NY; Augusta, ME; Binghamton, NYRemote/Office: OfficeThe salary range for this position depends on experience level and location ranging from $63,000 to $86,000.00JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation & Experience Required:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering / TechnologyBasic knowledge of power systemsAwareness of national and international standards, regulations, and regulatory agencies.Skills/Abilities: Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.Ability to read drawings and schematics.Able to work in a team environment and learn key business processes/procedures.JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance and renewal of automation, data collection, protection & control equipment subsystems on AVANGRID's electric delivery infrastructure in New England (Central Maine Power and United Illuminating) and New York (NYSEG and RG&E). AVANGRID's electric delivery system is approximately 8,600 miles of transmission lines and 1,000 substations.Engineering activities for electric transmission and substation system protection projects to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective completion. Conduct analysis, develop estimates and apply engineering standards and criteria to drive the completion of projects. Coordinate with other departments, vendors, and consultants in order to complete projects in a timely and cost effective manner. Ensure all protection system designs meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards (NESC, FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, ISO-NE, NY PSC, ME PUC, CT PUC, etc.).MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):Perform engineering design and analysis of the electric transmission and substation protection systems relay settings in support of the capital program. Perform short-circuit analysis using Aspen Oneliner to perform relay settings calculations and relay coordination. Review and approve work of engineering contractors who provide protection design services to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements. Review of large customer interconnections and distributed energy resource interconnections to substations, transmission circuits and distribution circuits. Oversee and manage execution of all aspects of NERC & NPCC compliance programs and other department initiatives as needed. Perform recloser settings as needed.
