Operates heavy equipment including dozer, compactor, motor grader, excavator, loader, dump trucks, roll-offs, water truck backhoe, scraper, and sheep foots. Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.Operates heavy equipment (compactor, scraper, grader, dozer, etc.) safely and proficiently for purpose of waste disposal.Operates a mechanical, side loading packer truck, collecting solid waste on a designated route, including streets and alleys. Operates hydraulically operated arms to lift mechanized containers which are emptied into the truck and hydraulic rams to compact the refuse. Detects, identifies, and reports improper equipment performance and makes necessary operational adjustments.Performs related work as required.COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIESKnowledge of:Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in equipment operation and solid waste services.Knowledge of hazards and safety rules and precautions of operating heavy equipment.Skills and Abilities:Skill in organization and time management. Valid Licenses and CertificationsRequired Licenses or CertificationsA valid Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) class A is required.Valid Texas Driver License.
