The Facilities team has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to play an integral role in the growth and maintenance of our facility. Candidates should possess direct construction experience building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (from industries such as semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.). This is a field based position to support 24/7 manufacturing facilities located in Lathrop California.Responsibilities Perform Energy Audits, Provide Energy Usage Calculations Circuit Analysis for critical load throughout the plant and circuit protection for Voltage Sag for critical loadsValidation, optimization and efficiency analysis for cost savings and reduction of energy throughout the plantOperate equipment and program/adjust medium voltage relays and breaker settingsPrepare engineering specifications for bid invitation, evaluate, and perform bid evaluation and conformed bid evaluations for purchase related to ongoing maintenance (preventive) activitiesAssist Operations and Maintenance in planning outages by supporting the coordination of downtime activities and needs between stakeholders (Construction, Facility, and Manufacturing team)Review design plans/specifications prepared by others and provide base cost estimating services within electrical scope, and work with trades to drive value for TeslaVisits construction sites to determine compliance with design intent, reporting discrepancies, errors and omissions and utilizes this input to update standards, processes, and proceduresEstablishes standards and specifications for installation, modification, quality control, testing, operation, inspection, and maintenance of Emergency Power Supply System (EPSS) and high voltage electrical systems according to commissioning standards, NFPA requirements, EPSS engineering principles and safety regulationsProvide technical and configuration support for the implementation and maintenance of energy systems utilizing tracking techniques and trending software and leading root cause analysis on process or asset failuresWork across sites to determine commonality and implement best practice to improve in electrical asset effectiveness, availability, and maintainability Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability8-10 years of direct construction experience building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)Required professional registration as an Electrical Engineer in the State of California or from another stateAbility to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environmentAbility to interface with multiple engineering disciplinesMedium Voltage equipment including - operating/maintaining the equipment, trouble shooting and programming /adjusting medium voltage relaysAdvanced knowledge and experience in Electric utility substation and distribution system engineering, maintenance, and operations; electric utility distribution system switchgear; ability to read electric utility system drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, etc.)Experience in the following Electric utility system analysis software (SKM Power Tools preferred) to perform load-flow, fault-duty, protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies; experience performing engineering economic studies and making recommendations to management and stakeholdersWell versed and significant experience in electric utility system safe work practices in accordance with the OSHA, HAZMAT safety protocols and other applicable codes and standards (IEEE C37, C57, etc.); National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584Proven track record of managing budgets and evaluating construction related quotes and contracts Compensation and Benefits BenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) LGBTQ+ care concierge services 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation$75,600 - $194,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
