Sr. Sterile Processing Technician Certified – Maryview Medical Center

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Senior Sterile Processing Technician, under minimum supervision, oversees the work of subordinate personnel within an assigned section and shifts. They will clean, disinfect, sterilize, assemble, and dispenses instruments and supplies. The Senior Technician will act in accordance to sterility per the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), The Joint Commission (JCAHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and state standards of practice.

Licensing/Certification

One of the following is required:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST),Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) orCertification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Education

High School Diploma or GED (required)

Work Experience

Recent experience in surgical setting (preferred)

Essential Job Functions

Assist in training and orientation of new personnel in departmental policies and procedures (e.g., aseptic techniques, instrument identification, tray assembly, rotation of supplies, processing, sterilizing, Steam and Ethylene oxide sterilization (EtO), and delivery of sterile items).Develops monthly reports, annual goals and objectives, phone inquiries, control inventory, accurate recordkeeping, attendance at special meetings, trainings as necessary, and assists with timekeeping.Maintains and establishes quality assurance programs by performing tests to insure proper operation of all sterilization equipment and keeps accurate records. Interprets graphs and data verifying safe operation of sterilizing equipment. Notifies Supervisor when equipment is in need of repair.Supervises and maintains work area in clean and orderly condition. Makes rounds and inspect supplies and equipment within the facility. Continually monitors and maintains safety standards to assure compliance with federal, state, local and department codes and regulations.Keeps current regarding trends and techniques through reading, in-services, and other educational programs in the Central Sterile Processing field.Adheres to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to designated Manager (or employer hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.Coordinates a timely, orderly flow of work in each area.Orders, receives, stocks, rotates and dispenses medical supplies and equipment to all areas of the facility.May be required to act as a Sterile Processing Technician Certified include working as a technician.Accessible for "on call" as scheduled and is available within the time frames as indicated by the department.
