The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
We're looking for a Transformation Principal for the Space Operations Group's (SOG) Transformation Office. SOG is a single-client Performance Unit (PU) supporting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering & Test (COMET) contract. The contract is to continue providing ground and launch operations support at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), including support for the International Space Station and the Artemis Program. The contract also includes services to other NASA programs, commercial ventures, and partnerships at KSC. The Transformation Office has responsibility for planning and leading operational excellence (transformation and continuous improvement), strategy, innovation, and collaboration across the organization to achieve the strategic advancement, efficiency, and affordability milestones in the Transformation Roadmap.
The candidate will provide support for, and direction for the following:
Execution
Under the direction of the Chief Transformation Officer, facilitates the development of approaches in assigned areas supporting an operational excellence strategy that will enable the organization and customer to achieve their long-term goals, working with functional owners, conducts an in-depth analysis of target operational processes to identify solutions for improvements achieving the desired end state, facilitates and monitors implementation of new strategies and process improvements.
Leadership and Management
Leads matrixed, cross-functional teams of leadership, technical subject matter experts, process improvement professionals, and change agents overseeing all aspects of transformation and continuous improvement initiatives in assigned projects/focus areas, manages assigned projects within established scope, schedule, and budget while exceeding project management standards, serves as a subject matter expert on operational excellence, providing guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders as needed, train and mentor team members on formally established process improvement methodologies.
Customer / Team Relations
Interface with senior as well as front-line functional organizational leadership; establish transparent, trusting, and strategic relations at all levels of working interface in roles within the organization.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Demonstrate a proven track record of operational process analysis, re-design, and realized benefits across a diverse set of functional capabilities and programs.
• Make independent judgments required for the planning, prioritizing, and organizing of workstream elements and resource forecasting to support the transformation, solutioning, and execution cycle.
• Address complex challenges and drive solutions that may require extensive organizational / functional integration.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution
, and at least fifteen (15) years of general experience; or an advanced degree and twelve (12) years of general experience. Candidate must also possess five (5) years of experience working in an operational transformation role.

• Demonstrated proficiency and success in leading and managing transformational projects/initiatives and other continuous improvement activities.
• Experience and demonstrated success with digital transformation concepts, practices, and practical implementation at scale and complexity in an engineering/industrial environment.
• Experience and demonstrated success developing executable project plans for both macro- and micro- level process and support system/tool changes.
• If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.

• May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
• Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
• May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
• Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
• Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
• Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
• All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines
• Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
• Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance
• Full-time work hours.
• Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Shift work may be required.
Other Essential Functions
• Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
• Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
