Tetra Tech is currently seeking a part-time, Environmental Scientist Intern for our San Diego, CA office. You must be in the San Diego, CA area.

The selected candidate will support a variety of environmental engineering, planning and investigation projects for government and commercial clients. Responsibilities may include:

•Review laboratory analytical data results from environmental investigations (e.g. soil, groundwater, sediment, etc) for comparison to project screening levels or regulatory criteria.•Assist gathering and processing environmental data for analysis and technical reporting.•Assist with Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments (ESA).•Field and office work related to groundwater and soil investigations and media sampling.•Interaction with staff members on various environmental projects.•Support preparing technical reports and proposals.•Other duties as needed including office clerical tasks, report production assistance, marketing support and other office related tasks.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:•Strong verbal and written communication skills required.•Current knowledge of state and local environmental policies and guidance preferred.

Degree / Certifications•Currently in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent is required.•40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is preferred.

Work EnvironmentThis position requires roughly 10% travel. You must be able to:•Travel occasionally within the San Diego, CA area required•Lift heavy field sampling and other equipment up to 35 pounds is required•Meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work•Work in all weather conditions, both hot and cold, while performing field work outside•Walk on uneven terrain•Don personal protective gear as needed•Be on-call as needed•Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

The Hourly Rate Range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hour depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
