Mental Health Practitioner I
to provide excellent client services at our long-term residential
Scott House
program in Hennepin County. This is a great opportunity to gain mental health experience in a community setting with deaf and hard of hearing clients.
This is a great opportunity for individuals who know basic to advanced level ASL to gain valuable experience.
*American Sign Language (ASL)
is the primary mode of communication for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. This offers our residents a strong sense of community with other deaf adults and strengthens our support activities in a culturally affirmative environment. We provide an array of individualized services to our residents to help maintain independent living in a community setting.
Schedule:
Part-Time, 24 hours / Monday, Tuesday, Friday 9am-5:30pm

Hiring Range:
$20 - $22.50 /Hourly, based on experience and qualifications
Hiring Bonus:
$1,000 hiring bonus for external candidates

For over 50 years, we have been a leading community partner, transforming the health of our communities through innovative solutions.Main Job Duties:Using person-centered principles, actively engage clients in their mental health recovery, and develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals.Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional and/or behavioral responses while prioritizing client and program safety.Participate in coordination of services through the recognition of the multiple needs of the client, with other providers in the community, in an effort to provide necessary resources to the client.Provide various skill-building, teaching and/or coaching, as it relates to the individual's goal and/or treatment plan.Assist with completing necessary client intake and admission paperwork and providing program orientation, if applicable.Medication administration in accordance with organization and program policies and procedures, if applicable.
RequirementsQualifications:To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The ability to pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General to assure the employee has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.Current driver's license along with a good driving record and valid insurance, if applicable.Required Education and ExperienceMaster's degree in a behavioral science or related field; ORBachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field and proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; ORHas completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field and:Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; ORHas 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness; ORHas 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities
and
completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; ORIs fluent in the non-English language of the cultural group to which 50% of the practitioner's clients belong; ORHas a high school diploma and 4,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with:Mental illness; ORTraumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities
and
completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; ORHas a high school diploma and 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with:Mental illness, emotional disturbance, or substance use disorder,
and
receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until 4,000 hours of experience is met; ORTraumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities
and
completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects
and
