Structural Packaging Designer– Product Design at Bose CorporationAt Bose, better sound is just the beginning. Our work is highly cross-functional, so we’re looking for a talented and humble designer whose creativity, empathy, and top-notch communication skills will help us develop compelling packaging solutions that only Bose can bring to life.Opportunity – what you’ll doAs a structural packaging designer on our team, you’ll work closely with User Experience, Packaging Engineering, Marketing, Research, Industrial Design, CMF, and Manufacturing to create and develop packaging solutions for all products on our roadmap. You’ll sweat the details, solve difficult problems, and learn from a diverse set of perspectives along the way. From concept to specification, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the packaging experiences that bring the power of sound into our customers lives.Skills – What you’ll bringAn original portfolio of product packaging-focused creative work that clearly demonstrates your design thinking abilities and approach to problem solving within the product development processStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong presentation skills with a creative and compelling storytelling styleStrong visual 2D skills via sketching, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.Proficiency with CAD and desire to learn new toolsProficiency with 3D rendering programs such as KeyshotStrong detail orientation with ability to work quickly without compromising qualityScope of responsibilitiesWork under the guidance and supervision of the Director of the Design Group and UX and ID Leads.Actively participate in critiques to solicit feedback and strengthen design work.Develop concepts and document them in formats suitable for use in consumer research, cross-functional team meetings, and reviews with senior management.Review and strengthen die lines that align with Engineering, Marketing, and User ExperienceDevelop packaging concepts in conjunction with cross-functional team members in a manner to deliver improved usability to the user and to create unique OOB experiences.Using the approved component architecture and the Product Design Language as guides, develop the visual identity of new products including form, color, and product graphics.Specify and document an approved packaging design's form, interaction, materials and visual acceptance standards for Engineering and Manufacturing.Participate in pilot production reviews to ensure execution of the final packaging design as intended, or if necessary, to modify the design to suit manufacturing capabilities with minimal impact to the design intent and strategy.Support the creation and presentation of packaging concepts through Product Design Milestones.Travel as required in support of assigned projects.Stay abreast of design trends and identify those of interest/applicability to the company.RequirementsEducation: BID, BS or BFA in packaging design, industrial design, or related field.Experience: Must have at least two years of packaging design or industrial design experience, ideally in the consumer electronics industry.LocationWe follow a hybrid working model that allows for flexibility but requires in office days of T, W, Th each week.*** If you are not located within commuting distance, please indicate you are open to relocation.
