The Planning, Design, and Construction department at Pittsburg State University is searching for a Construction Project Manager. The Construction Project Manager represents the University at assigned capital development projects. This position oversees, aids, and reviews the requirements, assessment, project outlook, bidding, negotiation, drafting, and construction phases of projects. Primary duties focus on budget, scheduling, construction safety, building codes, accessibility, compliance with construction contract terms and conditions, and protecting the interests of the university related to one or multiple assigned capital improvement projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

25%- Administer internal consultation to University members and departments to examine needs and the scope of projects and implement those requirements into project planning and design phases. Create project plans and time schedules and outline key project milestones while keeping University events and other major academic calendar events in mind.

25%- Plan and design in house or with consultants campus construction projects for new facilities and infrastructure or the renovation and remodeling of existing. Coordinate applicable codes and campus standards. Confer with external organizations to acquire the best prices and terms for services and act as a consultant for budget and contract development. Assist in preparing requests for proposals (RFP).

20%- Maintain campus communication between design and construction teams assigned to corresponding projects to ensure that objectives are met on time and on budget. Approve or reject changes to construction projects and contracts. Observe facilities on-site to ensure that contractual obligations are met and that completed projects meet satisfactory standards. Coordinate on-site inspections to resolve construction complications.

20%- Assist in maintaining the Universitys relationships with OFPM, OSFM, KBOR, contractors, subcontractors, engineering firms, and architectural firms. This includes assisting in the collection, reporting, and maintenance of KBOR data as well as the management of hardcopy and digital project documentation.

10%- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
