Production Specialists work in a dynamic, creative and fast-paced environment to create and assemble sign and graphic products for many different business applications. Creative work is performed within the FASTSIGNS Center sign production area that is fully equipped with top-of-the-line sign-making equipment.
Position requirements include cutting printed graphics using a variety of wall cutters, saws, and Exacto blades, as well as applying the product to substrates. The Production Specialist may be required to work in the field performing installations to vehicles, and building interiors and exteriors using a ladder or mechanical lift system. Careful attention to detail utilizing work orders that outline specifics for each custom order is paramount.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, with problem-solving skills who pays very close attention to accuracy and detail. Comprehensive training in all aspects of this position will be provided. If this describes you, we encourage you to apply!
POSITION DESCRIPTION
In the production space, this position is responsible for all aspects of the physical construction and assembling of signs from computer cut vinyl and wide format full-color printouts. Sign assembly includes preparing substrates and applying vinyl or other media according to written instructions. Also, mounting and/or laminating prints and operating and setting up the laminator for over-laminating, encapsulation, or mounting of digitally imaged products is required. Proofreading signs and conducting quality assurance to ensure the accuracy of signs is required. Sorting and packing signs for installation and pickup.
PRODUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow a layout to place computer-generated vinyl or full-color graphic image(s) on a predetermined substrate or medium.
Prepare substrates for vinyl application. This may include cutting on the Zund, routing on the Gerber Saber, painting, laminating, cleaning, and maintaining the substrates for vinyl application.
Feed UV flatbed printer with a substrate for printing purposes when necessary.
Weed excess vinyl from computer cut images. Weeding techniques vary with the size, type of vinyl, and complexity of the image. Know-how and when to use each technique.
Perform quality assurance measures pre-and post-construction by accurately reading and interpreting a Work Order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards (bubbles, rough edges, loose seams).
Perform finishing operations such as laminating, encapsulating, and/or mounting printed pieces.
Operate the laminator while maintaining proper fit and settings. Thread laminating or encapsulating material onto the machine, set temperature, pressure, and side guides for proper feeding of material.
Help unload raw materials; clean and maintain storage areas.
Maintain production rate consistency; meet or exceed established minimum rates per hour.
Work on different projects simultaneously.
Run proof sheet and secure approval for the production run from the supervisor.
Fabricate signs when necessary.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to work under pressure to output high volume, high-quality work.
Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
Flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back-forth hand motion to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate.
Ability to use light power equipment.
