The Role:

As a Recreational Therapist, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) you will provide therapeutic treatment and counseling to patients, guiding them in the acquisition of skills and strategies for management of mental illness, co-occurring substance abuse disorders, and associated life stressors. You will perform necessary documentation, develop and facilitate groups, perform departmental support tasks, and assist with patient related activities under the supervision of licensed staff.

Recreational Therapist Essential Duties:

Collaborate with nursing staff and treatment teams to promote patients' treatment and recovery

Responsible for performing necessary documentation, developing and facilitating groups, performing departmental support tasks, and assisting with patient related activities under the supervision of licensed staff

Responsible for formulating short term goals and interventions for patients based on the results of Therapeutic Admissions Assessment, and consistent with established long term goals

Responsible for working with the treatment team in learning and teaching the needs of the patients and providing individual interventions for patients with mental illness and/or substance addiction. This ultimately helps patients to identify behaviors that impact decompensation patterns and determine realistic strategies to manage their symptoms and maintain recovery

Report and document any changes observed in condition, mood, affect and/or behavior of patients

Education and Licensure: COTA, LMHC, LCSW, or LICSW required

Additional Information:

Pay Range:

Base pay rate is $28-41/hour. This is dependent on experience and licensure.

Shifts Available:

Extremely flexible hours, 4 - 8 hour shifts are possible. Ideally, candidates will have some evening and weekend availability.

Hours available:

Per diem opportunities to pick up as your schedule allows.
