Responsibilities: • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process • Keep client files properly organized and up to date • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings • Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants • Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on issues relating to ongoing or potential cases • Draft and review initial pleadings, motions, briefs, and other pleadings • Appear in Court as a professional to represent clients • Prepare clients and cases for trial • Advise staff on legal matters and interpret laws • Interact with clients and work with experts • Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients • The ideal candidate needs to have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence • Able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations • Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution Qualifications: • Must possess a minimum of three years of experience in Family Law litigation, which is a mandatory requirement • Must hold a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and have an active license to practice law in DC or Maryland • Should demonstrate a strong commitment to client service and teamwork by effectively managing relationships both internally and externally • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential • Strong interpersonal skills are a must • Proficient inefficient time management • Critical thinking skills are necessary • Ability to multitask effectively • Proficient in negotiation and persuasion techniques • Must showcase the ability to think innovatively Preferred Qualifications • Experience in Estate Planning is highly desired • Strong skills in Creative Problem Solving are a plus Compensation: $130,000 - $145,000 yearly
