Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the GBM Equity Sales and Trading business in the U.S. ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Co-ordinate firm's efforts to service U.S. based Institutional clients on a daily basis. Primary geographic client responsibilities include New York, Boston and U.S. South (i.e. Texas, Florida).

Develop knowledge of clients' needs and requirements to increase the depth/penetration of coverage of existing and new clients. Respond to specific client requests in a timely and efficient manner.

Work in partnership with sales, research, and trading professionals to deepen Scotiabank's relationship with the assigned client organizations and to deliver coordinated services. Facilitate the broadening and deepening of the overall Scotia relationship with the assigned client organizations on all equity-related products and executions services.

Deliver the firm's research to institutional clients, recommending specific investments that correlate with the client's investment style. Help generate the Sales desk's best investment ideas that engage institutional investors and help in the process of realizing attractive investment returns.

Represent Scotiabank with corporations in a variety of capacities, including the execution of institutional road show marketing, investor meetings and industry conferences.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring

Academic:

Ideal candidate will possess a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification and have an excellent academic and professional record.

CFA or equivalent designation is an asset.

Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Functional competencies:

10+ years of related experience a portion of which was in an Equity Sales role preferably selling Canadian research ideas to US Institutional clients.

Strong interpersonal skills and a keen focus on customer service.

Proven analytical skills and market knowledge.

Ability to multitask, excellent problem resolution and time management skills.

Ability to quickly and effectively respond to enquiries with confidence.

Ability to work in a fast paced and stressful environment and remain focused.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working in a team based environment.
