Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a RN, Nursing Professional Development Generalist - Nurse Educator for the Cardiac Procedural Recovery Care & Short Stay Unit
This position is full time day shift.
Relocation assistance can be provided to qualified candidates.
Department/Position Overview:
• Our unit is open 24 hours 7 days a week. We admit and recover patients mostly during the day and are provided care for overnight stays.
• Overnight population will consist of post cardiac procedure patients as well as some ED and transfer patients awaiting procedures.
•The ideal candidate will have cardiac experience and be comfortable reading telemetry independently.• The unit prepares and recovers patients for procedures in the Cath lab, EP lab, and Minor Procedure Room as well as the Cardiac OR for surgery.• The types of procedures that we prepare and recover patients for include but is not limited to: Cardiac Catheterization (interventional and diagnostic), Electrophysiology procedures such as cardiac ablations, Cardioversions, surgery, and ICDs/Pacemakers etc.
Responsibilities:
The NPD Generalist assumes operational responsibility for the development and implementation of staff education within designated population(s).
Functions as a learning facilitator supporting orientation, practice transitions, and continuing education.
Provides foundational education competency/skills validation to successfully move nurses from novice to beginner/competent practitioners.
Accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education, and professional development of nursing staff to improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes.
Supports system and hospital performance improvement and evidence-based practice projects and initiatives.
Education/Experience
BSN required.
Nursing License required.
2+ years of cardiac nursing experience required.
BLS Certification
Teaching experience preferred.
Nursing Professional Development (NPD) or specialty professional nursing certification preferred.

Job Summary
