The Analyst is responsible for consolidating and analyzing commercial data, market data, performance metrics, etc. to inform the business and support effective decision making on operations and strategy.The position requires strong analytical and excellent communication skills, together with a strong understanding and proficiency in Excel. The applicant should be organized, self-motivated, team-oriented, and possess an entrepreneurial mindset. Problem solving, critical thinking skills, and personal resilience are a must.?KEY RESPONSIBILITES:Supports the Trading profit & loss or supply & demand models through tracking of daily positions and reconciles differences between Traders and Commercial Risk.Develops models and commercial focused tools, dashboards and reports.Assists in providing analytical support in the modeling and evaluation of new business opportunities and strategy development.Executes a variety of ad-hoc analytical work and presentations as required by Commercial and leadership.Acquires and maintains external and internal information and resources to develop market intelligence, in support of Commercial and various MPC business units.Develops relationships with key external contacts in support of the businessGathers and maintains data associated with purchase, sale, contract management, and trades of Natural Gas, Electricity, and Steam to accurately monitor and report Natural Gas book, KPIs, Positions, and improvement initiatives.Supports and assists the teams in any Natural Gas, Power, and Steams Business Development opportunities.Manages the Natural Gas and Powers TeamView site which includes among other tasks: entering, updating, and maintaining contracts; entering and updating reports, analyses, and benchmarking.Guides and supports the Natural Gas and Powers team through the Vetting Process and the 4101-approval process.Computes and tracks performance metrics and conduct variance analyses to assess portfolio performance.Provides support to traders, schedulers, and others to identify, evaluate, and model optimization opportunities related to pricing, hedging, transportation, delivery hub options, and other commercial terms, primarily to help facilitate decision making.Identifies ways to streamline processes & optimize positions to reduce costs and/or improve profitability.Supports and maintains nat gas trading/scheduling spreadsheets & Right Angle.Reviews invoices for accuracy & coordinates closely with Accounting.Acquires and maintains external and internal information to develop market intelligence and insight into regional supply/demand issues and knowledge of market fundamentals.Carries out financial modeling of long-term contracts and project development opportunities.Provides problem solving analytical support for complex issues.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or related discipline required.Three (3) or more years of experience in Commercial, Risk, Trading Analytics, Scheduling, or Marketing requiredUp to 10% travel required.PREFERRED QUALIFCIATIONS:Strong knowledge of accounting & finance concepts and principles.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend effective solutions.Ability to perform complex financial modeling and analysis.Ability to lead projects and cross-functional discussions.Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to present to and influence management.As an energy industry leader, our career opportunities fuel personal and professional growth.Location:San Antonio, Texas
