Senior Underwriter Job Locations US-United States Requisition ID 2024-17733 Category Underwriting Position Type Regular Full-Time Overview The Senior Underwriter within the Specialty Verticals administers the underwriting, servicing of new and renewal accounts for agents and producers assigned within the Staffing/Healthcare Vertical in compliance with company underwriting, authority, and pricing standards. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization. This position is a remote opportunity for those 50 miles or more from an AmTrust office. Those located within a 50 mile radius are expected to abide by our hybrid schedule of 3 days on-site and 2 days work from home. Responsibilities Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing. Maintains compliance with state filings and adheres to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines. Operate within written authority granted and makes referrals to Vertical Management as required. Collaborates closely with vertical team. Keep peers and vertical management informed of all issues and activity. In collaboration with Vertical Management, Regional Sales Managers and Business Generation Consultants, develop and implement the vertical business plan and share accountability with team in meeting vertical goals. Train vertical staff and clients on underwriting appetite and protocols in conjunction with corporate training guidelines. Coach and collaborate with team to develop, manage and maintain outside client relationships, which will include traveling in territory to meet with agents, producers and organizations. Actively plan and participate in industry events as required such as but not limited to agency or association conventions. Provides professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross department staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and territory producers. Provides pertinent information and guidance to support staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines. Collaborates with vertical team on reports and update databases as required. Assist in gathering and communicating competitive intel. Keeps current with market trends and demands. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university CPCU or CIC designation preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the home office as required. Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of workers compensation coverage and risk selection, methods and pricing. Demonstrate ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Preferred: 10 years of workers compensation experience Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning Ability to train, coach and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within area of expertise.
