The Backend Engineer role will implement and architect a modern customer engagement solution for HP's consumer subscription business. This role will develop data driven solutions to support the business.
This position will apply developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues and implement those solutions in code. The daily work will consist of solving problems that are of diverse complexity and scope, while exercising judgment within generally defined policies and practices.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze design and determine coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established guidelines.
Create and manage RESTful APIs to support functionality and ensure seamless integration between different services.
Design limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems while identifying opportunities for performance improvements.
Design and optimize database schemas, write complex queries, identify, and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring the application is efficient and scalable.
Implement security and data protection measures in the role of a security champion.
Provides ongoing maintenance, updates, and bug fixes to ensure applications remain functional and up to date.
Collaborate and communicate with project team regarding project progress and issue resolution.
Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for the codebase, APIs, and database schemas.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
8 years of backend specific programming,
Working with Big Data Distributed systems such as Databricks, AWS EMR, AWS Glue etc. and multiple Big Data file formats such as Parquet, Delta Lake etc.
Proficiency with cloud native technologies like AWS, Azure etc. and coding languages like Python, Java, Node.js, etc.
Strong experience with database technologies like MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL etc.
Experience using No-SQL databases such as DynamoDB etc.
Experience with container management frameworks such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECR etc.
Experience working on CI/CD processes such as Jenkins, Azure pipelines etc.
Familiarity with version control tools such as GitHub, etc.
Familiarity in leveraging monitoring tools/frameworks, like Splunk, CloudWatch etc.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to represent complex algorithms in software.
Database architecture testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
Effective communication skills (with team members, the business, and in code)
Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
Has a passion for data solutions and willing to pick up new programming languages, technologies, and frameworks
The base pay range for this role is $102,500 to $157,850 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
