Position Description
Primary Purpose:
Directs scheduling for product movement throughout the pipeline system as well as manages of Schedulers directing and accounting for product movement within the Kinder Morgan Southeast Terminals (KMST).
Manages staff of Schedulers. Identifies opportunities to maximize usage of company assets and services. Helps to develop and coordinate resulting projects. Reviews customer nominations and implements pipeline proration policy as needed. Oversees preparation of pipeline schedules and terminal inventory management. Personally responds to customer inquiries and takes the lead in resolving customer issues. Ensures seamless communications with Pipeline Control Room Personnel.
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers. Communicates with customers to ensure their expectations are met in a timely fashion. Participates in meetings with customers in the office, in the field and at customer’s facilities. Provides marketing information to customers to optimize profitability of company facilities and services.
Helps to find innovative solutions to customer issues and identify business opportunities. Communicates with other departments to find solutions to customer issues. Identifies opportunities to maximize usage of company assets and services. Helps to develop and coordinate resulting projects.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Provides managerial leadership and selects, supervises and evaluates staff. Initiates salary action and disciplinary action as warranted. Resolves grievances and other personnel issues. Provides training and motivation to make the best use of individual capabilities and to meet changing demands.
Identifies potential problems related to pipeline/terminal scheduling and inventory control. Provides information to management as necessary. Oversees creation of monthly pipeline schedules and inventory control. Participates in planning disposition of off-specification product codes and resolution of customer claims.
Oversees monthly terminal closing and other monthly requirements like Exstars filings.
Leads KMST & Pipeline Schedulers during RVP transitions to meet regulatory deadlines requiring a strong understanding of different products, product quality, and the capabilities of the terminal.
Leads Schedulers in the evaluation and development of plans to optimize operating options (cycle patterns, impact of additional or changed product codes and power/DRA usage.) Evaluates new projects to determine impact on pipeline and terminal capabilities. Helps to develop optimum scenarios within budget and operating constraints.
Monitors activities of customers and competitors, identifies common business trends, reviews service levels/components and other elements that influence customers needs and selection of service providers. Participate in developing marketing/business development strategies.
Other Job Functions:
Responsible for ensuring that Schedulers communicate daily with Control Center personnel to ensure seamless transfer of information regarding interrelated scheduling/operation issues.
Provides information to management on customer’s business requirements and market developments. Provides information to web sites on the intranet / internet.
Serves as the primary approver for KMST Scheduling of all terminal maintenance and project work.
Maintains consistent telephone contact with customers and occasional customer meetings. Participates in telephone and field meetings with other business units. Works closely the Control Center Project Management Team and other groups regarding customer issues.
Serves as the KMST Scheduling’s subject matter expert for Galahad, eGalahad, and GaTTs applications.
Represents the KMST Scheduling during ERL calls for all relevant scheduling and customer concerns.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Contacts:
Has extensive telephone contact with customers and occasional customer meetings. Participates in telephone and field meetings with other business units. Coordinates with Engineering, Environmental, Field Operations, revenue Accounting and Information Systems regarding customer issues. Works with Business Development and Planning personnel in developing marketing/business development strategies. Provides information to Senior Management.
Position Requirements
Minimum requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or the sciences is advantageous.
Experience / specific knowledge:
A minimum of 5-7 years progressively responsible industry related experience preferred. Must be familiar with pipeline/terminal operations and pipeline scheduling/inventory management.
Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (in English) are essential.
Proven capability to establish and maintain good customer relationships required. Experience in customer service, marketing, project coordination and business development desirable.
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a current, valid State driver's license are required.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:
Effectively communicate, orally (face to face and by telephone) and in writing with coworkers, contractors, customers, government officials and Control Center Management.
Demonstrate intermediate to advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, Outlook).
Manage staff and perform associated personnel administrative functions.
Accept direction and supervision and work effectively and cooperatively with others building strong relationships with a variety of people both internal and external maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
Identify, analyze and resolve a wide range of problems involving pipeline services.
Effectively resolve customers issues.
Perform volume calculations including manual schedule computation when necessary.
Demonstrate organizational skills to handle a variety of matters simultaneously.
Demonstrate sound knowledge of:
Management and supervisory principles and practices
Pipeline and terminal operations and procedures.
Pipeline scheduling and inventory management
Product specifications and fuel regulations
Customers’ business environment and requirements
Regulatory Constraints (FERC, FTC, etc.)
Working conditions:
Primarily office environment with some travel.
Subject to phone calls/call-back, 24-hrs per day, 7-days per week; must carry a cell phone and respond to all notifications.
Extended work hours in cases of emergencies or operational upsets.
Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state, or federal agencies and/or Company policy.
Supervisory responsibility:
Coordinates and supervises the activities of direct reports who perform various pipeline scheduling activities.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
Demonstrated competency using proprietary KM business applications such as KMBMS, PAS, and CCI.
Sound knowledge of: Products (SE) Pipe Line Customer Information Manual, Company facilities, policies and procedures
Experience in customer service, marketing, project coordination and business development.
Prior experience effectively and successfully managing personnel
