Summary:Assists in maintaining the accounts and books of the company and preparing daily and monthly journal entries and financial reports. Assists in maintaining and company's electronic ledger systems and assists department in providing various account reconciliations.Responsibilities:Analyzes financial transactions to assure conformity and compliance with generally accepted accounting principalsAssists in preparation of monthly financialsAssists with daily cash reports reconciliation of cash receipts to various ledger systems and bank reconciliationsPrepares journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure account balances are true and accurate as presentedPreparation of key financial analysis critical toward development of company-wide strategic initiativesAssists in preparation of year end schedules as neededAdheres to Brown University Health guidelines and policies for protecting patients demographic clinical and financial informationPerform other duties as assignedWorks collaboratively across departments as a finance resourcePrepares monthly variance analysis of key organizational metricsAnalyzes results monitors variances identifies and investigates trends/changes and recommends actions to stakeholders
Other information:Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting or finance related fieldAt least one year of prior experience in accounting/financeAny combination of education and experience that is substantially equivalent is also acceptableKnowledge Skills and AbilityPrinciples and practices of accounting and financial operationsBasic management information system applications for accounting and bookkeeping functions (Peoplesoft experience a plus)Accrual and Cash basis of accountingProficiency in Microsoft Office products with advanced skills in ExcelCommunicating effectively both verbally and in writingDetail-oriented and organizedAbility to perform complex financial data analysisAbility to multi-task and operate under pressure with the skills to think critically and problem solveAbility to organize and prioritize work assignmentsExamining and verifying financial documents and reportsAnalyzing and preparing various financial reportsAbility to work well independently with others and in teamsMust be committed to providing superior customer service to allWorking knowledge of accounting terms and processes and with general and supporting ledgersExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with thecapability to effectively communicate with stakeholders.Must be flexible and receptive to change with the ability to learn quickly and retain new informationDetail and process orientated with a focus on accuracy and efficiencyPhysical RequirementsThis role works primarily in a remote capacity and has daily communications through virtual meetings sometime in the office may be required for meetings trainings etc.Sit and stand for prolonged periods of timeWork and move among all departments of Brown Health Medical Group Primary Care groupExcellent hand/eye coordinationLift up to 15 poundsManual dexterity to operate personal computers and standard office machines and equipment as it pertains to ones positionVisual Acuity Hearing and SpeakingTo transfer information from paper to computer from computer to computer and to communicate in person and on the telephone
