Job Summary: Part-Time Designated Institutional Officer - San Antonio Opportunity for a DIO to oversee our new residency programs in the San Antonio Division. The Graduate Medical Education programs of the Division consist of 2 ACGME-accredited programs, Internal Medicine and General Surgery, both welcoming their first class of residents on July 1, 2024. We anticipate strong growth in the next 3 to 5 years with plans for Ob/Gyn, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine and medical and surgical sub-specialty fellowships. For physician candidates in any medical specialty, this leadership position can include a mix of clinical and administrative responsibilities. Exceptional non-physician applicants with significant GME experience are also eligible for consideration.
Qualified Candidates:
Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), other Doctorate-level (e.g., PhD, EdD, JD), or other qualifications deemed appropriate by the Division Vice President of GME and facility leadership. Prior experience as a DIO, program director, or other significant GME administrative role is highly preferred. Experience in undergraduate medical education administration or other healthcare industry administration may be appropriate in certain situations. Responsibilities:
DIO has the authority and responsibility for the oversight and administration of the Sponsoring Institution s ACGME-accredited programs, as well as for ensuring compliance with the ACGME Institutional, Common, and specialty/subspecialty-specific Program Requirements. DIO will work closely with each program and its faculty to recognize areas needing attention and determine what additional resources or efforts are required to maintain full compliance with all requirements. DIO will work closely with Division VP of GME and other Division and hospital leaders to improve the educational quality of each program. DIO will lead the local GME team in constantly improving the working and learning environment with the goal of creating a positive culture and an outstanding experience for all residents and fellows. DIO will monitor changes in ACGME accreditation standards and requirements and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders within the institution. The opportunity to work in a clinical setting will depend on the specialty and the availability of a desired practice setting. The DIO will be based at the Graduate Medical Education office located at the HCA Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. The DIO will be expected to travel to the 2-3 teaching hospitals as needed with all located within 20 to 30 minutes of each other in the San Antonio area. Opportunity Incentives/Benefits:
