Overview:
Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed. Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank. As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.
What is Early Talent Recruiting?
Early Talent Recruiting is a division of recruiting within the Talent Acquisition team as part of the larger Human Resources department at M&T Bank. Early Talent Recruiting refers to the process of identifying and attracting students and recent graduates for internships and entry-level roles. The Early Talent Recruiting team utilizes online outreach, campus events, and partnerships with colleges and universities to identify talent for our full-time development programs and internship opportunities. The Early Talent Intern would work closely with the Early Talent Team to assist with recruiting and summer programming efforts.
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate Summer Internship programming (guest speakers, events, etc.)
Participate in and lead the planning and implementation of summer projects, speaker sessions, and early talent promotional events
Build/maintain relationships with Career Services at our target schools to ensure career placement offices have a thorough understanding of M&T and our Early Talent Programs to create a seamless on-campus recruitment process for our candidates and interviewers (hiring managers, senior managers)
Work with Career Services, diversity organizations, student clubs, faculty, alumni, and others at our target schools to strategically plan and coordinate recruitment presentations, career fairs, sponsorships, and other events
Work closely with Early Talent team members to build and execute on developed recruiting strategy
Manage reports and special projects as assigned
Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite
Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis
Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
Complete other related duties as assigned
Scope of Responsibilities:
This individual works closely with the Talent Acquisition staff, as a partner to fulfill employment needs across the bank footprint. Interact/communicate with both internal and external candidates as well as various levels of management.

Education and Experience Required:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
Excellent computer software and internet skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well within a team environment and support a variety of work
Strong relationship building skills with an ability to interact with personnel at all levels, both internally and externally
Excellent organization and time management skills
Must have professional image and presentation skills

The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations.
