Job Overview

This job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions until 21 NOV 2024. Open to all Federal Civilian Employees. AFWERX Autonomy Prime Branch (AFRL/RGP) seeks to hire a mid-level, DO-0301-02, Program Specialist, in Arlington, VA at the Pentagon.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

Diagnose areas of opportunity and vulnerability in the Air Force's innovation & technology transition efforts using net assessment-style analysis.

Liaise with Strategic Assessments Team, Office of Net Assessment, and other analytic offices to identify relevant takeaways about USAF competitive advantages & disadvantages.

Coordinate with outside analytic offices to maximize the utility of their research for AFWERX.

Bridge the gap between military strategists and AFWERX engineers and operators to ensure net assessment analysis is being conducted with a realistic understanding of Blue tendencies and capabilities.

Ensure AFWERX technology development and transition efforts are based on a comprehensive understanding of how such technologies will enhance the USAF's ability to compete effectively, including an understanding of Red predispositions.

Provide input on how AFWERX programs can be shaped to meet medium- and long-term challenges likely to be faced by the USAF.

Present major challenges faced by AFWERX in implementing net assessment and competitive strategy techniques, and make corresponding recommendations.

Pay Range: $73,484 - $115,388 base salary without locality.

This position is located at Pentagon, VA. The position may be eligible for situational local telework. Non-local remote telework is not authorized, and the incumbent must be local to the position.

Required Qualifications

US Citizenship

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade DR/DO-01/GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Experience gained in non-federal positions will also be reviewed for specialized experience. Specialized experience: analyzing threat assessments, technical and operational requirements, and open-source research/classified intelligence.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated experience working as a Program Manager (PM) either directly or in support of DoD funded early acquisition efforts with focuses on financial records and program management duties.

Demonstrated experience with early DoD acquisition life-cycle efforts such as SBIR & STTR efforts and the demonstrated ability to analyze contract performance data and develop Courses Of Actions to remedy issues and mitigate contract risk.

Demonstrated experience working in diverse DoD acquisition focused groups or teams.

A Bachelor’s degree and/or Advanced degree (with a business or finance focus) is preferred.
