Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our growing CPA firm. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in public accounting, tax preparation, and client payroll processing. This is a fully remote position with opportunities for career growth within the organization, including potential for Partner status.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare federal, state, and local business tax returns (1120, 1120S) and individual tax returns (1040, 1041) with attention to accuracy and detail.Prepare payroll for clients per their schedule, whether weekly or bi-weekly.Provide individuals and businesses with strategic tax calculations and advice to support financial decision-making.Conduct research on domestic taxation matters and provide well-documented advice.Ensure adherence to all tax reporting and payment regulations, including local sales tax and business property tax returns and filings.Leverage tax software programs for efficient collaboration and data management.Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients and prospects.Essential Skills
5+ years of experience with federal, state, and local tax regulations, compliance, and tax coordination.Proficiency in tax preparation software.Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.Familiarity with accounting software such as Thomson Reuters and QuickBooks Online.Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and regulations.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is highly preferred.Past supervisory experience.Advanced proficiency in Google Suite and Excel.Experience with Thomson Reuters and Intuit Pro Series software.Construction Accounting and Tax Knowledge is a plus.Work Environment
This position offers a fully remote work environment with standard M-F business hours and flexibility. Candidates local to Richmond, VA will have the option to work in-office if desired.
