Accounting Manager

Vaco is assisting their privately owned, Memphis-based client to fill their Accounting Manager opening.
In this highly visible role, this position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and lead a team of staff accountants and AP and AR professionals. There will be ongoing contact with the company’s CFO and COO, as well as other senior-level managers throughout the corporation.
What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements as well as manage the financial report process for multiple companies
Perform a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger reconciliation and financial reporting within tight deadlines
Ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner as the team grows in their roles
Act as the liaison between the company and the outside CPA firm assisting with preparation of tax returns for multiple entities with multiple business structures
Responsible for multi-state and municipality business licenses, property tax returns, net profit returns, annual report filings and compliance.
What Is Required (Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in accounting
Ideally 10+ years of experience
Proficiency in using QuickBooks or other large, automated accounting systems as well as Microsoft Office and Google products
Must be able to thrive in an extremely fast paced environment and have good communication skills
Must be familiar with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
Should have excellent leadership skills, an analytic mind, and strong interpersonal skills
Proven track record leading a team
How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Public Accounting experience
Advanced degree or CPA is preferred
