As a Dispatcher at CATA, you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who are committed to providing excellent service to our staff and customers.

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Hours worked will be between 5:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with rotating days off. On-the-job training for the position includes hours worked in the mornings and evenings to gain a comprehensive understanding of the role. Schedule is subject to change.

Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

Builds daily Bus Operator schedules and produces multiple revisions of the schedule as Operator availability dictates, utilizing specialized proprietary software, while adhering to the scheduling process under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Acts as a communication liaison to ensure adherence to scheduled routes, provides route instructions, reroutes Operators when necessary, and assists Bus Operators in the resolution of challenges encountered en route.

Conducts daily audits of all driver schedules to adjust allocation of hours for timekeeping and payroll accuracy.

Utilizes two-way radio to communicate with Operators, and to respond to and monitor radio transmissions.

Coordinates bus switch-outs and driver relief, based on mechanical or personnel needs.

Prepares route detours and information as needed; posts public messages regarding detours; redirects Operators due to traffic delays, road construction, and vehicle accidents; communicates pertinent information to Customer Service Center.

Receives and responds to overflow and after hour calls for Customer Service Center.

Approves or denies drivers’ leave requests and allocates the use of paid time off, as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Initiates the collaboration between the Maintenance Department and Operations Supervisors to resolve mechanical issues and optimize daily operations.

Schedules on-demand ride requests.

Communicates with emergency services and law enforcement related to disabled vehicles or accidents, public health or safety concerns, and changing road conditions.

Starting salary: $18.44 per hour
