SALARY RANGE: $70,338.00 - $112,807.00 ANNUALLY

EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicants education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.

PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from thisposition will be on probation for 6 months.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

An Accountant II performs such lead work as assigning, reviewing and approving the work of accounting personnel or performs specialized accounting work. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:

EDUCATION: Have a bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.

AND EXPERIENCE: Have four (4) years of experience in performing accounting work experience.

OR

(NOTES)EQUIVALENCIES: Equivalent combination of education and experience including 30 credits in accounting and business law and 6 additional credits in statistics or data processing.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of accounting and routine auditing practices and procedures.Ability to maintain accounts and compile and write financial reports.Ability to assign and review the work of others.Ability to speak and write effectively.Analytical ability.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and City agency representatives.

EXAMINATION PROCESS
