supports the establishment and implementation and execution of the corporate strategy for the company. Provides support to long range strategic plans and objectives that effect the company's growth and sustainability. Supports and plays a key role in the execution of the strategic plan and its deliverables through an effective communication strategy. Helps identify threats and opportunities to our strategic plan based on external market forces and internal strengths and weaknesses. Supports the change management process of key decisions to support the business units are successful implementing while providing regular updates to officers. Supports business decisions based on the corporate strategic plan and prevent inconsistent company decisions and positions from existing among the business units. Assumes a supporting role on a team responsible for influencing outcomes of executive decisions and points of views from idea creation to implementation. Helps communicate strategic recommendations to Business Unit leadership to present options and interpret impacts for a variety of business cases and scenarios. A major stakeholder in the creation, direction, and long-term implementation of the corporate strategy while ensuring its ongoing success through regular management of strategic drivers, signposts, and options.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, IT, Economics or similar discipline and eight (8) years of broad business operations/management experience.Five (5) years relevant work experience or college coursework may substitute for a degree.Master's degree with emphasis in Strategy highly preferred.- Two (2) years experience in business process improvement and planning.- Experience in interfacing with all levels of the organization, with specific strengths in making strategic decisions and recommending supporting strategies supportive of management decision making.- Demonstrated multiple, concurrent project management and planning skills.- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with demonstrated quantitative ability.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:
Certification in a professional specialty (i.e., six-sigma or LEAN). Excellent understanding of utility sector threats and uncertainties to both APS and the broader industry. Excellent financial acumen with the ability to connect the dots between business strategy/initiatives, operational plans and financial performance. Experience in interfacing with all levels of the organization, with specific strengths in making strategic decisions and recommending supporting strategies supportive of management decision making. Demonstrated multiple, concurrent project management and planning skills. Proven ability to communicate clearly about complex, integrated business issues to diverse audiences. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.Major Accountabilities1) Support management and implementation of the corporate strategic plan, including identifying when sign-posts are approaching and options which must be considered to achieve the company's strategic objectives and desired shareholder return.
2) Support identifying market drivers and recommend ideas for mitigating threats to the strategic plan while seeking opportunities for increased shareholder return and influencing decisions at the highest level of the organization.
3) Influence and provide technical advice and counsel to business unit leaders while participating on, and leading, effective teams to solve problems and create strategic opportunities which translate the relevant unit's significant objectives into actions that support the long-term objective and direction of the corporation.
4) Lead and support dialogue with all stakeholders during strategy construction to ensure the strategy recommendations are thoroughly vetted and in alignment with the corporate direction and strategic plan.
5) Assure company assets are fully leveraged and both internal and external factors are considered and incorporated into decisions.
6) Proactively gather business intelligence insight, market trends, business environmental factors, customer value demands and internal capabilities to translate findings into corporate business strategies in establishing and implementing mid/long term direction.
7) Contribute to the development of operating budgets, monitoring spending for adherence to budget; plans, develops and recommends plans to address variances.
8) Lead and support cross business initiatives spanning growth strategies and operational excellence based on benchmark analysis of industry trends, competitive threats, expansion opportunities and internal performance.
9) Serve as key interface with the officer team, documenting key positions and decisions through white paper format which accurately represents the company's strategic direction on each topic, as appropriate.
10) Stay abreast of market factors and trends that may impact the corporate strategy.
11) Contribute to the development of specific implementation tools and recommends performance objectives with resource and financial load. Activities include, but are not limited to designing complex analytical approaches, data collection and analysis, report writing and production, tracking project activities and tasks, and helping to ensure the overall success of the company.
