This role will be dedicated to assisting in designing and developing intuitive, user-centric interfaces for our digital therapy platform. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and Figma, as well as a commitment to improving mental health care. Key Responsibilities: Design Refinement and Testing (45%) Assist the UX/UI designer in refining wireframes, prototypes, and user interface designs. Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to help improve design iterations. Support in ensuring consistent visual branding across all design elements. Ensure that design adjustments maintain a responsive, mobile-first focus across different devices and screen sizes. *User Testing and Research (20%) Facilitate and conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability testing sessions. Collect and analyze feedback from users to inform the UX/UI designer's decisions. Document user insights and help identify areas for improvement in the app's design and functionality. *Collaboration and Communication (15%) Collaborate with the development team to ensure design changes align with technical requirements and user testing insights. Communicate testing outcomes and design recommendations to the UX/UI designer and project stakeholders. Help facilitate brainstorming sessions and design critiques, contributing to the overall iterative design process. *Accessibility and Compliance (10%) Assist in ensuring that accessibility standards (WCAG) are applied and tested during the design process. Stay informed about web accessibility best practices to help maintain the application's compliance with industry standards. *Continuous Improvement (10%) Stay updated on the latest UX/UI tools, technologies, and trends to support the design team. Advocate for user-centered design practices by sharing insights from testing and research with the broader project team. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials Required Qualifications: *Bachelor's degree and/or Certificate in Graphic Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field with related experience. *Proven experience as a UX Designer, preferably in digital health projects. *Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions and case studies of previous work. *Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar. *Strong understanding of accessibility standards, usability principles, and best practices. *Excellent communication and collaboration skills. *Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote or hybrid work environment. *Able to work up to 14 hours per week Preferred Qualifications: *Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus. About the Department The Anker Lab, part of the University of Minnesota's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences, is committed to advancing mental health care through innovative digital solutions. We are developing a cutting-edge digital therapy application aimed at supporting individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) and comorbid conditions such as anxiety and depression. The goal of the project is to develop an FDA-approved phone application that will break down barriers to treatment access and offer recovery support to individuals with OUD. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
