SSSD has an opening for an EMI/C Systems Design/Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

This requisition can be filled at a level 2 Systems Engineer or a level 3 Principal Systems Engineer. Additionally, this position is contingent upon capturing program award, acquiring customer funding, and obtaining and maintaining the necessary clearance(s) prior to start date.

The EMI/C Systems Design/Test Engineer will be responsible for the complete compliance process, from components to systems level, including EMI/C testing/designing, technical, cost, and schedule performance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Reviews and tailors EMI/C test requirements to meet specified product and system performance for all aspects of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) compliance;

-Develops/designs models for interference coupling mechanisms, shielding integrity, and circuit/cable interface isolation to mitigate and control conducted/radiated emissions and susceptibility stimuli;

-Performs EMI/EMC testing, analyzing, mitigating and troubleshooting from components to systems level;

-Designs and develops unique/specialize/ efficient test apparatus and testing methodology related to EMI/C and RF electrical testing;

-Develops work Instructions of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments and/or controls;

-Process/analyze EMI/C test data and prepares/generates qualification test procedures and reports

-The individual should be a self-starter, versatile, problem solver, and have a willingness to work as part of a team; must be willing to travel occasionally to locations elsewhere in the corporation in order to assist in testing/troubleshooting efforts, attend design review meetings, and work off-shift hours if necessary.

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:

-Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 2+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline

-Technical knowledge of product and systems EMI/C test qualification, engineering, evaluation, analyzing and testing.

-Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:

-Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience OR

-PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 1+ years of engineering experience

-Technical knowledge of product and systems EMI/C test qualification, engineering, evaluation, analyzing and testing.

-Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications

-Practical hands-on experience in performing emissions and immunity testing to the applicable specifications.

-Thorough working knowledge of MIL-STD’s 461/462/464/704 and Commercial Standards (RTCA-DO-160s, FCC, EN & IEC).

-Experience with EMI/C Lab and RF test equipment including and not limited to Spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, signal/pulse generators, Network analyzers, RF generators/monitors/antennas.

-Experience in electromechanical design and fabrication of EMI/C test aids and other RF electrical tests.

-Experience with EMI/C emissions/susceptibility test software, MATLAB, Mathcad and other related programming languages.

-Active US Govt. DoD Top Secret clearance and/or active SCI access at time of application

Salary Range: $87,200 - $130,800

Salary Range 2: $107,300 - $160,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
