This position will have responsibility for design/build and implementation of Clinical solutions including UCIP and related 3rd party diagnostic technologies; Laboratory and other non EPIC related clinical and care setting common platforms.

POSITION PURPOSE

The primary job responsibility of the Senior Solutions Architect is to lead the design, development and integration of new or improved product capabilities. Highly focused on enhancing operations through automation, improving supportability, and preparing product deployments. Provides a seasoned knowledge of the interactions between technologies and applications across product lines. Responsible for the assessment of business requirements; collection and identification of technical specifications; and the subsequent development of technology-based solutions to address the needs of the business.

Serves as a subject matter expert, in coordination with the TIS Service Optimization teams to prepare products for enterprise deployment and support. Provides vision and identifies solutions which address current and future business requirements. Proves the feasibility of a design; creates the design artifacts required to deliver and to maintain the infrastructure; through implementation and providing high level support, in production. Provides leadership, combined with deep technical knowledge and sophistication for solutions in more than one of the following areas: Virtualization, server automation, systems management, application infrastructure, storage, data protection networking, and information security. Develops talent and coaches Solution Architect staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Provides consultative guidance in the planning, development, design, testing, migration and implementation of new products and upgrades of existing solutions.

Establishes and documents product specific standards, near/mid-term strategy, and roadmaps in support of Trinity standards and strategy, acting as product specific subject matter expert.

Responsible for deploying highly complex technical components in areas of expertise and related design documentation.

Responsible for integration, migration and contingency plans.

Consults on application and infrastructure projects to fit them to enterprise big picture. Follows enterprise architecture review processes for IT Service Lifecycle Management.

Researches and makes decisions on software and hardware components or services, identifies the technologies to employ based on price, performance, service agreements and organizational constraints.

Leads research and development efforts (proofs of concept, prototypes), as subject matter expert, when introducing new technologies.

Responsible for creating and maintaining technical support documentation.

Responds to business, computational, and technical requirements for new capabilities based on business/functional requirements required by Service Optimization customers.

Designs advanced application architecture and interface requirements for new capabilities in collaboration with other solution architects, enterprise architects, Product Engineering, Product Management and Service Optimization.

Leads teams in building of new capabilities and reporting solutions; new applications development, third-party application integration and automation.

Responsible for implementation of continuous computing delivery systems and methodologies.

Creates work plans and resource requirements. Provides technical expertise to propose level of effort estimates, work breakdown structures and technical resource planning for proposed and current work.

Consults Enterprise Architecture and other solution architects to align solutions with existing platforms and products.

Leads various phases of the software development lifecycle to perform QA/architectural review functions and to ensure adherence to Trinity Health technology standards and product specific solutions architecture.

Works with Product Management, Product Engineering and Service Optimization to ensure technology solutions are production ready and meet the defined specifications, and that the solution can be maintained via production support methodologies and resources; following established Change Management procedures.

Manages the ongoing implementation solution for improvement opportunities.

Provides technical guidance and talent development to coach and mentor team members; provides performance feedback to manager(s).

Creates and provides instructional training and conducts informational presentations.

Keeps current and informed of related technologies and best practices within the industry. Identifies and implements best practices within Product Engineering.

Serves as technical design owner and point of contact for product specific solutions.

Creates vision and direction of Trinity Health, TIS, and the Product Management organization.

Cultivates working relationships within the Product Management, Product Engineering and Service Optimization organizations, and with the business units, that are positive, professional and collaborative. Interfaces with director level and staff, and both business and technical positions. Resolves conflicts and provides coaching to other solution architects on effective communication and collaboration.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

This role will serve the Clinical Service Line which further narrows the Essential functions applied to:

Roles required for Unified Clinical Imaging project:

Trinity Health is moving to a common platform RPACs/CPACs, enterprise wide, cloud based Imaging technology stack.

We are moving/consolidating 30 Local/Regional PACs (RPacs/CPacs) to the common platform

There are 10 ‘legacy’ Pac vendors (Chg Health, Fuji, GE, Intelerad,….) that comprise the 30

These Local/regional Pacs are supported by 4 Support teams

TH has approximately 100 3rdParty Apps that may or may not be Context integrated with the legacy Pacs; we are consolidating that to a ‘smaller’ set through governance

TH has in place a common enterprise instance of Power Scribe dictation, and RAD-AI

Clinical Imaging (RPacs, CPacs, etc.); laboratory, Pharmacy, Ambulatory Surgery EMR (HST)and Imaging RIS.

Architect/Design, process-flows, interfaces, integrations, HW and SW build and or vendor coordination

Work with other Trinity IT teams services and vendor(s) for Requirements, specifications

Build out AD sets/groups, rights

Design/document/ build Ops/Support run books, recovery /failover procedures

Design/document testing run books, Unit testing and integrated

Provide support during transition at, through Go-Live

Specific to UCIP technologies:

Context API build

Migration strategies, DB extracts, manipulation (MRN consolidation, reformatting, PPI data, Accession numbering, etc.; determine corrective action for key/index issues, Migration work cues

Worklist design, build for Technologist, and Clinician, hanging protocols, etc

Laurel Bridge is being deployed as our enterprise gateway standard for all Modalities

Build Workflows, Route points, etc.

Configure/test with F5 HA Failover

Address work with Local Ministry Clinical Engineering migration through LB

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in healthcare or information technology and minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive experience with expert level knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering in multiple IT disciplines (such as strategic planning, solution architecture, technology architecture, network management, security management, change management, application development, middleware design, information analysis, database management, project management and operations management).

At least five (5) years of experience in the health care industry and three (3) years in enterprise solution architecture.

Expert technical knowledge and understanding of multiple architectures, applications, systems design, entity-relationships, and integration.

Demonstrated thorough understanding of modern enterprise architecture, commitment to following, and holding others accountable to following, best practices.

Expert knowledge of healthcare processes and data linkages across clinical, financial, and patient administrative areas in acute care and outpatient settings.

Ability to understand, and effectively communicate in non-technical terms, how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking). Knowledge of multiple components of enterprise architecture. Demonstrated knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes. Basic knowledge of financial analysis and models.

Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and mentor within and across teams in the areas of communication, collaboration, best practices and quality of work product.

Ability to effectively drive short-term actions which are consistent with long-term goals. Ability to balance the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term implications of individual decisions. Ability to apply multiple solutions to business problems.

Minimum seven (7) years of experience in design and development of processing, reporting, analytic, and application solutions to support end-user decision-making.

Writing functional specifications and design specifications

Developing data enhancement processes and applications

Developing and integrating standard structures, processes, and delivery methods, and other comprehensive end user solutions

Experience with multiple technical architectures, and languages

Change management process development and enforcement

Excellent organization, analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Must possess the ability to work collaboratively across product management methodology (Management, Engineering and Optimization) teams.

Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare nomenclature and clinical and financial business processes.

Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a typical office environment. The area is well-lit, temperature-controlled and free from hazards.

Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the telephone, with people in a number of different locations on technical issues.

Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a keyboard. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone, video conferencing and in person communications.

The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same period and adapt to interruptions.

The incumbent must be capable of traveling up to 20% in the course of completing project assignments.
