The Michigan Milk Producers Association is looking for an experienced Facility Maintenance Mechanic to join our team, in our Middlebury, IN facility. As a maintenance repair technician, you will contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities. The primary purpose of this role is to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and other tasks to ensure the efficient functioning of our equipment and systems.ABOUT US:The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) – established in 1916 – is a dairy farmer-owned and operated milk marketing cooperative and dairy processor. As the 10th largest dairy cooperative in the U.S., MMPA serves dairy farmers throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana, employing approximately 625 people in four states. In addition to a cheese plant in Indiana called the Middlebury Cheese Company, and a dairy product plant in Ohio called Superior Dairy, MMPA operates two SQF Level 3 dairy ingredient plants in Michigan. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Uphold Food SafetyWork safely and be organizedResponsible for the repair and maintenance of production machinery & equipment, physical plant, utilities & grounds in accordance with company policies & proceduresBasic troubleshooting and repair of steam, hydraulic and pneumatic systemsRepair and install sanitary type pumps and valvesBasic plumbing and drain repair and installationBasic repair and maintenance of electrical/electronic systemsComplete projects in timely mannerLift up to 50 poundsBe able to climb and work safely at heightsWork with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipmentFabricate, cut, weld and repair stainless steelFollow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Chemical Safety Procedures.Perform any tasks necessary to ensure a Safe Quality Food product is produced.Perform any and all related duties as may be required or necessary.Work with the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager to meet annual goals of production, maintenance repair goals, special projects and any jobs deemed necessary.All other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn new conceptsBasic knowledge and experience pertaining to electrical systemsExperience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, fabrication, control panels, electric motorsGood understanding of physical measurementsBasic knowledge of personal computer-based equipmentTroubleshoot various maintenance problemsAbility to work with little or no supervisionAbility to work and communicate verbally, in writing, via phone or radio effectively with a variety of individualsDependable and available to be on call at all hoursAdaptable to on-the-job trainingTeam playerDetail-oriented with ability to multi-task
