What we're looking for:
Nexamp is looking to hire a Senior Construction Superintendent (SCS). As an SCS at Nexamp, you will be responsible for the training, support, and management of the field-based Construction Superintendents. You are an experienced people manager with civil, electrical, and structural experience, preferably in the solar industry. You will play a supportive role in the preparation of project permitting, bid, and closeout documents, and assist the Project Manager with multiple projects simultaneously. You will also play a key role in construction and quality as Nexamp grows into new and developing markets.
This is a field-based role covering solar construction projects in the northern part of Illinois. You will report to the Regional Construction Manager.
What you'll do:
Manage a highly effective team of Construction Superintendents to oversee individual, short-term, high-intensity, solar project construction and work closely with the Commissioning and Closeout team to ensure quality standards are met.Play an integral role in the development of projects by conducting field walks, assisting in value engineering, providing knowledge and field experience to project designs, and assisting in the permitting process.Work with the Project Managers to develop risk assessments and HASPs, execute the SWPPP and any additional Best Management Practices (BMPs) as needed, and give job site safety briefings and tailboard talks throughout the project.Assist the project managers in driving the commissioning and closeout process, including as-builts, warranties, permit documents, commissioning docs, and O&M manuals.Assist the project managers to analyze project data and budget and assist in the decision-making process.Lead by example and enforce company and regulatory safety policies and procedures; address non-compliance among all employees, contractors, and vendors.Interact and communicate effectively with contractors, consultants, and project managers.Attend daily PODs and weekly progress meetings with Construction Superintendents.Oversee submittals, RFIs, observations, and redlines.Coordinate maintenance of sites while in construction. i.e; plowing, site access, snow removal from equipment pads, mowingResponsible for site coverage during active construction, SWPP inspection and documentation, and all milestones, mockups, quality inspections, and approvals.Take part in vetting and hiring of Construction Superintendents.Perform a weekly audit of folders within Procore. Review daily logs and inspections in Procore and is responsible for closing out.Share experience and best practices to continuously improve the design, construction, and operation of projects.Assist design in Geo-Tech and Push/Pull Testing.What you'll bring:
5+ years of construction management experience, preferably in the solar industry, with a successful track record in project management.Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, and various other construction management tools. Experience with Procore is a plus.Understanding medium voltage systems and equipment is a plus.Knowledge of OSHA safety standards; OSHA 10 is a minimum requirement.Maintains professional licenses in trade (i.e. CSL, NABCEP PV, etc.).Willingness to travel up to 3-4 days per week to job sites.Valid and current driver's license.Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
