POSITION + SCOPE
The Director of IT will report to the CSSO and have responsibility for IT infrastructure, operating & corporate technology, strategic planning and vendor management. Leading a total team of 6, the Director of IT will be responsible for implementing and running next-generation information technology infrastructure and managing these resources to support all business processes across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will be an inspirational leader with extensive technical infrastructure experience, strong project management acumen, excellent vendor management skills, deep technology applications experience, proven experience developing and implementing IT processes and procedures, and will also demonstrate a service-first-oriented approach to infrastructure and IT operations.
The Director of IT will also be responsible for operational and service management processes to ensure quality, efficiency and agility goals are achieved. As a member of the IT senior leadership team, this leader will contribute to the development and execution of the enterprise-wide IT strategy, and ensure it aligns with company strategy and budget.

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES: Drive the IT operations department to embrace next generation technology that supports the organization now, and in the future, both on-premise and in the Cloud. Review security protocols and develop plans and procedures to ensure the highest level of infrastructure security for the organization. Ensure in-house developed software complies with IT industry best practices regarding documentation, version control, release notes, etc. Forecast future skills needed to acquire and develop an IT workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills and competencies that balance between growing the agility required to achieve digital business objectives and ensuring the core IT functions are reliable, stable, and efficient. Set the mission and vision for the IT operations department to foster a service-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques. Lead the development of the IT operations roadmap and ensure its integration with the overall IT and enterprise strategic plans. Support company acquisition opportunities with the establishment of dynamic integration protocols and broad knowledge base of industry best IT practices. Continually improve IT infrastructure integration of acquisitions including network and infrastructure security. Support data and analytics objectives, establishing key initiatives, and outlining a roadmap for establishing BI solutions that align with the organization's goals. Foster an engaged work environment within the department, encouraging accountability, open communication, teamwork, and a commitment to serving the customer. Work with the IT senior leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources. Act as a trusted advisor and build and maintain relationships with other operational leaders and executives to develop a clear understanding of enterprise needs; ensure cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs and respond to changing industry priorities. Participate in and collaborate with operational business leaders to develop the annual IT operating and capital expenditure budget for areas of responsibility which is consistent with overall strategic objectives of IT and the enterprise. Fluency in certifications and audit certificate options in the industry's technology space. Develop and maintain a roadmap to ensure services meet certification levels required of an industry leader. Leverage influencing and negotiation skills across IT and the enterprise to enable cost effective and innovative shared solutions in achievement of enterprise goals. Participate in the assessment of external and internal technology capabilities required to achieve desired competitive positioning. Maintain currency on new technologies and platforms and provide direction on what emerging technologies should be assimilated, integrated and introduced within IT to ensure capabilities respond to the needs of the enterprise's strategy. Maintain an active IT sunset strategy for outmoded technology and a refresh model for standard organizational technology. Champion department involvement in the organization's innovation efforts and its role in experimenting with new solutions to take advantage of industry opportunities. Provide strategic direction and oversight for the operation and support of IT systems and network that fulfill the needs of the enterprise, including the full life cycle of infrastructure operations and IT service support. Work with Human Resources (HR) and the IT leadership team to develop a "people strategy" that aligns with the enterprise and IT strategy. Continually identify and evaluate leading-edge and innovative solutions for the recruitment, development and retention of the IT workforce. Direct the development of the IT sourcing strategy for investments and maintenance and provide executive participation in strategic vendor and partner relationship management. Serve on IT Steering Committee; help drive the development of enterprise technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics to help ensure the IT organization delivers value to the enterprise. Lead policy development and implementation to adhere to prevailing compliance requirements. MISSION CRITICAL OBJECTIVES - YEAR 1
Evaluate existing IT infrastructure to determine capabilities, security and longevity. Evaluate current IT staff to determine capabilities, strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. Meet with all divisional and regional business leaders within the enterprise to understand their IT needs, desires and improvement opportunities. Develop standing internal customer service review meeting agendas and timelines to ensure alignment between IT and the business needs. EDUCATION, SKILLS + EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree/MBA is strongly preferred. 15+ years of related experience in information technology; 10+ years of management experience. Experience with and exposure to both applications and infrastructure areas of focus. Prior experience working in a multi-site/state business model. Experience building scalable technology in a high-growth environment. Cloud based infrastructure and operations experience; prior experience managing a distributed voice and data network. Experience updating and integrating legacy IT systems. Acquisition and integration experience. Experience establishing integration, data management and BI protocols. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organization design and development. Proven ability to lead IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments. Experience leading cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the organization and within complex contexts. Track record of successfully implementing an IT roadmap, including focus in key activities called for as the company prepares for a period of significant growth. Ability to recognize opportunities to utilize existing and emerging technologies to maximize the effectiveness and profitability of the Company. High competency in managing resources and projects to achieve goals with attention to detail, commitment to timing, and within the frame of available resources. Strong ability to set clear and measurable objectives, delegate responsibility, differentiate performance, reward and recognize outstanding performance, and take appropriate action to correct low performance.
