Our health network operates eastern Wisconsin's only academic medical center and adult Level I Trauma Center at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee, an internationally recognized training and research center engaged in thousands of clinical trials and studies. The Froedtert & MCW health network, which includes five hospitals, more than 1,700 physicians and nearly 40 health centers and clinics, draws patients from throughout the Midwest and the nation.
At the direction of a radiologist operates computed tomography (CT) and related equipment. Performs CT studies according to specific guidelines, prescribed protocols and utilizing appropriate radiation protection measures. Reviews images; archives with associated patient data. Interacts with imaging personnel, nursing and medical staff, patients and visitors. Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum of one year, full time equivalent, clinical experience in Diagnostic Radiology is requiredPerforms routine and 'special' CT examinations according to medical/department standards and protocols, and within proper guidelines of radiation safety and OSHA standards, as well as meeting quality requirements. Follows established guidelines for radiation safety including adhering to ALARA, wearing dosimeters and using proper shielding when appropriate; educates patients, family members, staff and providers regarding use, as appropriate. Operates all CT imaging and related equipment according to protocols as defined by manufacturer, organization or other accepted authority. Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions or other technical issues to the appropriate resources. Troubleshoots equipment issues before calling for service. Demonstrates competence in venipuncture technique/ blood draws/IV starts according to medical and dept. standards. Knowledgeable regarding types and uses of contrast, as well as recognizing and responding to contrast reactions, side effects and extravasations including proper documentation. Demonstrates competence in use of auto-injector, including loading, monitoring and recognizing/addressing function issues. . Maintains all competencies related to use of point of care testing equipment and is able to perform lab testing with minimal errors. Prepares patients for studies by answering questions and providing clear explanations; provides appropriate instructions and positioning to obtain optimum image quality. Assists patients throughout exam; thanks patient at conclusion and hands out thank you cards. Job Standard 3: Matches orders, images and archives to PACS while ensuring integrity of the data. Approves images prior to processing. Performs PACS reconciliations accurately and completely without follow-up, and assists other medical and clinical staff with image quality concerns. Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge of EPIC. Enters orders, checks in patients through beginning and ending exams. Bills supplies, documents notes and allergies, reviews patient history for pertinent clinical information and contraindications, and performs end of day reconciliation for all exams performed. Completes all requested/required documentation in a timely manner. Information is complete and accurate when submitted, including pre-imaging questionnaires, on-line reports, progress and ED notes, cancel-credit forms, allergy information, consents and others as needed, and requires no follow-up. JobPost high school completion of an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology program is required. EDUCATION PREFERRED: 1-2 years of college/university coursework and/or an undergraduate degree in a healthcare related field is preferred. ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology and current State of WI license as a Radiographer is required. Advanced certification in CT required within 18 months of hire/transfer. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within three (3) months of hire.
