TITLE: Accounting Manager TYPE: Direct Hire LOCATION: Detroit, MI ONSITE/REMOTE/HYBRID: Hybrid, 2x onsite in Detroit We are looking for an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager role is crucial for overseeing the month-end close procedure, managing cash flow predictions, and offering deep technical accounting guidance. We're seeking someone with a robust understanding of accounting principles, an eye for detail, and the knack to supervise and scrutinize monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and variances, ensuring compliance with set timelines. Proficiency in US GAAP, exceptional analytical, and presentation skills aimed at senior management will be key to success in this position. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure account reconciliations are accurately done, assisting the team in timely discrepancy resolutions. Provide oversight on monthly variances, offering explanations for significant or unusual account balance changes. Spearhead the NORAM Cash Forecasting efforts. Lead the process for month-end and year-end closing in North America, guaranteeing accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Approve and review journal entries to ensure they are accurately recorded in line with GAAP and organizational policies. Engage with various teams to advance operational projects. Conduct and apply technical accounting research as necessary. Engage in special projects and fulfill other assigned responsibilities. Contribute to the compilation and appraisal of monthly management reports and analyses. Maintain compliance with Internal Audit/SOX requirements. Support audit activities and liaise with external auditors, supplying needed documentation and assistance. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Over 5 years of relevant experience in accounting. Previous use of accounting software; knowledge of NetSuite and/or OneStream is a plus. Superb communication and leadership qualities, with an emphasis on mentoring and team development. Familiarity with month-end closure tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses. A strong foundation in technical accounting and fluency in US GAAP. A Master's degree is a plus. Holding a CPA license and possessing experience from a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus. EOE STATEMENT We are an equal opportunity employer.
