Zurich North America is currently looking for a VP & Actuary to lead and manage our Commercial Auto Pricing team. This is a senior actuarial role within Technical Underwriting and this leader will provide insights for the Commercial Auto Portfolio. Our preference is for the position to be based in our Schaumburg, IL office, with consideration for individuals who may be based out of another Zurich North America office location. Approximately 5% travel will be required for this position and will depend on location of the leader. The Technical Underwriting, Commercial Auto Pricing team is responsible for delivering the Auto product pricing which represents over one billion dollars of premium annually for Zurich North America. The Commercial Auto Pricing Team works closely with other Actuarial teams as well as Commercial Auto Product Management and Market Facing Underwriting teams to support achievement of Zurich’s financial objectives. This position reports to the Head of Casualty Pricing and works on a team with other LOB Pricing Managers. Responsibilities:

Partner with the Business Unit Actuarial, Underwriting and Reserving functions. Detailed pricing analysis including the development of rates, rating plans, and portfolio management strategies. Manage and deliver detailed Trend Analyses, Loss Development Factors and other Parameter updates as related to periodic loss ratio studies for tool updates. Provide input into the Technical Virtuous Circle for Auto portfolios. Provide input and guidance to actuarial, statistical, and IT functions to support current pricing tools. Provide Lead support for Pricing Tools and related monitoring including working knowledge of underlying data sources, dependencies, and Power BI. Build new or adhere to existing governance and monitoring frameworks. Support Virtuous Circle and AvE meetings across the organization. Where appropriate, provide rate filing support including formal indications and evaluation of pricing levels. Establish and maintain excellent communication and collaboration within as well as between teams. Participate in Finance and Underwriting decision processes, providing independent challenge as part of decision making. Lead, manage and mentor actuarial staff including the development of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) annually including mid-year and year-end performance appraisals. Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification. Bachelor’s degree and 15 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Commercial Auto. Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner. Proficiency in pricing studies: rate indications, trend studies, parameter analysis. Proficiency with Pricing Tools including development, deployment, and post-implementation monitoring. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly possessing the ability to share technical results and recommendations to audiences at varying levels of analytic understanding. Experience leading, managing, and mentoring actuarial teams. Technical knowledge and multi-level leadership skills. Excellent execution, communication and influencing skills. Solution oriented, strong collaboration and conflict resolution experience. Strong executive presence and the ability to interact across all levels of the organization. Track record of fostering business improvement and delivering change in a complex insurance environment. Strong preference for FCAS. Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The starting salary range for this position is $168,400.00 - $275,800.00. As an insurance company, Zurich is subject to 18 U.S. Code § 1033.
