Job Description and DutiesUnder the direction of the Research Data Manager (RDM), the Staff Services Manager I (Supervisor) provides first level management support for the OR Special Projects, Evaluation and Research (SPEAR) Branch, to include technical assistance and oversight efforts regarding external research studies, departmental program evaluations, and pilot projects that examine CDCR's security and safety protocols and procedures, as well as evaluations of a wide range of rehabilitative programs that are proposed or are currently being delivered by CDCR to the incarcerated and supervised populations. The incumbent has excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills; applied knowledge of federal and state laws, and state regulations governing research with incarcerated and supervised persons; and is familiar with relevant statistical techniques applicable to research with the incarcerated and supervised populations.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development (T&D) assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. Working ConditionsThe position is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
