Definition(ON-CAMPUS - in-person position) Orange Coast College (OCC) is seeking equity-minded individuals for a classified employee role as an Accounting Technician EOPS/CARE under the Counseling Division, as part of the EOPS/CARE department.

SummaryPerforms financial record-keeping duties associated with the processing and completing of accounting transactions for various accounts. Assumes responsibility for one or more elements within a complete accounting system, including preparation of related financial statements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs accounting work for assigned accounts, including preparation of required financial statements, maintenance of the general ledger, and other related fiscal reports.
Records, verifies, codes, and processes payroll information for faculty, staff, short-term, and/or student assistants.
Processes purchase orders and direct payments for assigned accounts.
Prepares transactions for the general ledger for assigned programs.
Compiles, maintains, and reconciles information required in processing financial and accounting reports.
Assists other District and campus personnel in resolving problems with accounting transactions.
Performs duties related to reconciling subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
Assists with the development of organizational unit budget proposals.
Prepares, processes, and codes requisitions and claims for reimbursement.
Researches financial information for discrepancies.
Maintains accounting and financial records.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequires a working knowledge of the principles, practices, and terminology of financial and statistical record-keeping and accounting practices. Requires completion of an Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, or the equivalent, and 3 years of experience in financial record-keeping capacity, and 2 years of progressive administrative support experience.
Conditions of EmploymentNote: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. This is a temporary contract, categorically-funded, full-time (40 hours per week), 12-months per year classified position. The District reserves the right to extend, modify, or eliminate this position based upon available funds.
