Job Overview
The University of Dubuque has a growing Aviation Department that is seeking an
Aviation Dispatch Assistant
. The University of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match.
Hours: Second shift with a rotating schedule of Monday - Friday and Tuesday - Saturday
Starting Wage: $15.00 per hour
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Dispatch supervisor with managing tasks related to the scheduling and dispatching of aircraft and simulators and any dispatch operations-related responsibilities
Verify flight plans, review weather, track aircraft, maintain necessary records, and provide reports as needed
Communicate with students, flight instructors, and other operations staff on scheduling and dispatch needs and coordinate all related activities
Open and close the Babka Aviation Learning center and other UD facilities
Coordinate maintenance-related activities and squawking of aircraft with the aviation maintenance staff
Wing watch if needed and coordinate stacking of aircraft in hangars
Support the Director of Aviation Safety to ensure compliance with SMS requirements
Engage in life-long learning and scholarship opportunities to continuously enhance the Aviation Program and furtherance of the safety culture
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's
Mission
Requirements:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
Capable of communicating effectively via radio with aircraft, orally, and writing
Exceptional skills using Microsoft Office and other computer software
Ability to pass an FAA/DOT drug test
Experience in dispatching or similar operations in an aviation or non-aviation environment is preferred
Valid US driver's license
