Engineer will be part of Platform engineering team and working closely with various partners across the enterprise to identify, design and implement flexible, responsive, and secure technologies focused on IaaS and PaaS solutions. This individual will work daily with their colleagues to iteratively produce solutions in the areas of infrastructure automation which are highly available and performant and may include solutions involving network, storage, and compute. The role may be responsible for producing technical assessments to validate assumptions or establish a technical direction.Platform Engineering - Software EngineerPlatform Engineering Team integrates and manages a platform that provides runtime environment for stateless and stateful workloads and also provides toolset required to build/deploy/manage workloads. The primary purpose of this role is to serve as a Platform Engineer within our Carbon Platform team contributing to the design, development, and support of an enterprise wide microservices platform. This individual will work closely with both architects and engineers to design, build, and iterate on a suite of automation which is responsible for the infrastructure setup, configuration, and integrations of key cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes, Istio, Vault and Consul, ArgoCD, Spinnaker, etc. This role assumes a high comfort level working in an iterative and fast paced agile environment. This role requires a cloud native design philosophy. Responsibilities may distribute across all major public cloud providers including Google, Azure, and AWS as well as our on-prem data centers and/or stores. The Software Engineer for Platform’s Core Infra team absolutely requires a strong passion and drive for automation, consumer experience, and improvement.Key Responsibilities:• Translates complex cross-functional business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions; partners with Product Team to understand business needs and functional specifications.• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable solution designs; evaluates project deliverables to ensure they meet specifications and architectural standards.• Builds and manages Kubernetes Container orchestration platform and supports stateless and stateful workloads.• Designs patterns and develops solutions in Golang, Yaml, and Python/shell and understands application-level software architecture; makes technical trade-off decisions at application level.• Automates and simplifies team development, test, and operations processes; develops detailed architecture plans for large scale enterprise architecture projects and drives the plans to fruition.• Solves complex architecture/design and business problems; solutions are extensible; works to simplify, optimize, remove bottlenecks, etc.• Provides mentoring and guidance to more junior level engineers; may provide feedback and direction on specific engineering tasks.Required Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field).• 3 years of experience in software development or a DevOps related field.• 2 years of experience in database technologies.• 2 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC).Preferred Qualifications:• Master's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field.• 3+ years of experience as platform engineer, DevOps engineer, application engineer or similar.• Experience in building platforms to provide IaaS and PaaS solutions.• Should have strong hands-on experience with

Rancher, Istio, Kubernetes, Docker, Vault, Consul .• SME in Containerization, Virtualization, Linux operating systems and cloud technologies with strong development and automation background.• Strong experience with using Git and SME in CI/CD tools -

Jenkins, ARGOCD, Spinnaker

and etc.• Strong experience with Configuration management - Ansible or opcode chef.• Coding experience with Golang will be considered as an advantage.• Experience working in microservices Architecture.• Application tuning knowledge, capacity concepts, benchmarking, trending, and monitoring.• Scripting experience in mainstream languages - shell and python.• Experience of platform level concerns, such as configuration management, network request routing, blue/green or canary deployments.• Knowledge of application servers and web servers, networks, firewalls, switches, load balancers.Where You’ll Be:• Associates are required to relocate to the Charlotte region to foster collaboration and facilitate improved testing and support.• Lowe’s supports a Flex Office concept where in-person work is required two days per week at the Charlotte Tech Hub.• Most business meetings are planned around the Eastern time zone.About Lowe’s:Lowe’s Companies, Inc.
