GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, CRM, the Email Front End Developer is instrumental in crafting and optimizing email campaigns that deliver impactful, engaging messages. Leveraging your expertise in email development and industry best practices, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall effectiveness of our email marketing initiatives.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating dynamic, personalized email experiences that resonate with our members and leads. Your ability to create highly functional emails, combined with a strong understanding of automation and journey-based content, will ensure that our campaigns achieve maximum engagement and performance.
The ideal candidate is technically adept, possesses a strong knowledge of email design, and excels in troubleshooting and problem-solving. You are proficient in dynamic content, automation tools, and email testing, ensuring consistent and high-quality execution across all campaigns.
This is a hybrid role, working 3 days per week from our headquarters in San Francisco, CA, and reports directly to the SVP of Customer Relationship Marketing.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles for email.
Strong understanding of email design best practices, including accessibility and dark mode optimization.
Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Klaviyo).
Expertise in tools like Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar platforms to test, troubleshoot, and optimize email rendering across multiple clients and devices and to ensure fast load times and smooth rendering.
Ability to implement dynamic content blocks and conditional logic in emails to personalize experiences based on interest, demographic, behavioral, and transactional data.
Knowledge of advanced audience segmentation techniques to create personalized email content that aligns with user preferences, increasing engagement and conversion rates.
Experience with A/B testing and email campaign performance analytics.
Understanding of key factors influencing email deliverability, including authentication methods (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), spam filters, and sender reputation management.
Knowledge of email compliance regulations (e.g., CAN-SPAM, GDPR) and accessibility standards.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Extensive experience working with platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud (preferred), HubSpot, or Klaviyo to execute and optimize email campaigns.
Strong ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) to manage timelines, prioritize tasks, and ensure on-time project delivery in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality, error-free email campaigns that adhere to brand standards and best practices.
Capable of strategic planning and problem-solving, with a focus on driving email engagement and measurable business outcomes through data-driven insights.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic business setting.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Deep expertise in HTML and CSS coding specific to emails, with a focus on mobile-first and responsive design strategies.
Proficiency in creating personalized email experiences using dynamic content blocks, conditional logic, and personalization languages such as AmpScript or similar.
Experience with email testing and optimization tools like Litmus and Email on Acid to ensure accurate rendering across platforms and devices, as well as fast load times.
Strong understanding of email deliverability factors (e.g., SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and compliance with legal standards such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR.
Experience with marketing tagging and tracking platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Universal Analytics) to monitor campaign performance.
Knowledge of automation tools and the ability to build and optimize email journeys.
Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is preferred. Salesforce certifications are a plus, though not required.
EXPERIENCE
3+ years of work experience in email marketing or other relevant work experience.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree.
