We serve as a vital resource for our community, fostering collaboration among businesses, government, and residents to create a thriving local economy.Position Summary:
The Executive Director will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Lansing Chamber of Commerce. This role involves managing daily operations, driving membership growth, and advocating for the business community while enhancing the overall quality of life in Lansing. The Executive Director will work closely with the Chamber Board of Directors and various stakeholders to advance the Chamber’s mission and objectives.Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Strategy:Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Chamber’s mission and objectives.Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set priorities and goals for the organization.Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Chamber, representing the organization in the community and with external stakeholders.Membership Development:Drive membership recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring the Chamber meets the needs of its members.Cultivate relationships with local businesses, government officials, and community organizations to promote collaboration and support.Programs and Services:Oversee the planning and execution of Chamber events, programs, and services that add value to members and the community.Evaluate and enhance existing programs to better serve the Chamber's membership and community needs.Prepare and manage the Chamber’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and sponsorships, to support Chamber initiatives.Advocacy:Advocate for policies that support local businesses and economic development at the local, state, and national levels.Engage with government officials and policymakers to represent the interests of the Chamber’s members.Community Engagement:Foster relationships with local stakeholders, including educational institutions, nonprofits, and civic organizations, to strengthen community ties.Promote initiatives that enhance the quality of life in Lansing and support the local economy.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably within a chamber of commerce, trade association, or nonprofit organization.Proven track record of successful membership development and community engagement.Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and fundraising.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders and build consensus.Knowledge of economic development principles and local government processes is a plus.Application Process:
