Sr. Compliance Counsel

Reporting to the VP of Compliance, the Sr. Compliance Counsel will help ensure that Saint-Gobain North American operations follow all relevant legal and internal rules and provide advice on compliance. This includes staying abreast of developments, interpreting laws, and ensuring that key personnel are in possession of necessary information. The Sr. Compliance Counsel should possess excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to assess and communicate risks to business partners in a clear and actionable way. The ideal candidate should also be able to learn and understand a highly matrixed organization to help create solutions that are practical for the business and align with Company procedures. They must also be able to balance proactive projects with reacting to new issues quickly and efficiently. The role will require knowledge and understanding of risk management, policy creation, and internal investigations. The Sr. Compliance Counsel will be key in ensuring the Company operates in a legal and ethical manner while meeting business objectives and timelines.Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, particularly with respect to the Department of Justice Guidelines for Effective Compliance Programs, then develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of issues and provide guidance regarding how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.Conduct internal investigations in areas such as fraud, theft, conflicts of interest, harassment, discrimination, and other matters.Conduct/support risk assessments and assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures that ensure the business is a first line of defense.Assist with policy creation, development, and maintenance in areas including: The Code of Ethics, ABAC, AML, Privacy, User Charter, Social Media, Workplace Violence, and other related policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities.Review and issue approvals as appropriate for Gift and T&E Policy exceptions, IT Snooping Policy Approvals and advice and counsel regarding other policy interpretation.Provide day-to-day proactive ethics and compliance legal advice; identify creative, compliant solutions to achieve business goals and strategies by collaborating with Human Resources, Security, Internal Control, Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and mitigate risk.Assist with developing and implementing tools/programming/training/communications that promote a culture of compliance that ensures that employees speak up about concerns.Develop and deliver innovative training to encourage employee understanding and engagement.Assist with data privacy programming and response.At Saint-Gobain, our employees have pride in belonging to an organization whose culture is made up of these core values: Trust, Empowerment, & Collaboration.
