Our work provides opportunities to apply language processing solutions to real-world challenges and to research and prototype new methods to address mission needs. We are looking for highly motivated, adaptive, and self-directed candidates to perform research, development, engineering, evaluation, and integration in the field of natural language processing capabilities.Roles & Responsibilities:The position involves researching, developing, evaluating, and integrating HLT capabilities. Specific responsibilities will include:Work in and provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams to develop and implement AI and HLT solutions, including capabilities that leverage large language model technologyAnalyze language processing needs and recommend innovative solutionsPrototype HLT systems or components based on analysis of workflow and operational mission needsEvaluate technology solutions in the context of mission data and workflow needs, and provide actionable recommendationsConvey complex ideas to non-technical audiences through briefings and/or white papersLead projects or small teams to solve complex HLT problems for our sponsorsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, linguistics, or related disciplinesKnowledge of and experience in prototyping/developing human language technology components/systemsAbility to apply state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to human language technology processing challengesAbility to work independently to learn new technologies, methods, processes, frameworks/platforms, and systemsExperience with programming languages such as Java or PythonDemonstrated recent experience with large language modelsExcellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate challenging technical concepts to both lay and expert audiencesMust be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearanceThis position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-sitePreferred Qualifications:Prior work experience, including summer internships, in AI/HLT relevant areasHands-on experience in the development/prototyping of HLT systems or componentsActive DOD security clearanceThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):NoneThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):SecretSalary compensation range and midpoint:$92,500 - $115,500 - $138,500 AnnualWork Location Type:HybridMITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
