is a nonprofit organization that provides community-based services to empower children and adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible in the least restrictive environment. The agency, through its programs and services, encourages the inclusion of people with disabilities into the mainstream of society, including social, recreational, family and work activities.Public Relations (PR) position that will be tasked with creating and maintaining a positive public identity for the agency. Their duties include writing and publishing press releases, providing responses to the media’s information requests and monitoring public opinions of companies using social media, surveys or polls. This person will contribute to existing PR efforts while helping to develop new initiatives aligned with company objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of PR functions, as well as positive relationships with media professionals in our industry and the community. This team member will be involved with building and maintaining government relations and communicating with local government officials.Travel is required for this position on occasion to other office locations in MassachusettsHybrid role, 2 days in Stoughton office and 3 days homeMonday - FridayOffice core hours are 8:30am - 4:30pmEssential FunctionsEstablishes and maintains cooperative relationships with consumer, community, employee, local & state legislators, and public interest groups.Helping customers and the public understand what Tempus Unlimited offersWrites press releases and prepares information for the media to promote Tempus UnlimitedPlans or directs the development of programs to maintain favorable public and stakeholder views of the organization’s agenda and accomplishmentsAnalyzes the organization’s objectives, promotional policies, and needs to build public relations strategies that influence public opinion and promote services and philosophyMaintains the organization’s image and identityDrafts speeches and schedules interviewsPrepares and edits organizational materials, including employee newsletters and other publications for internal and external audiencesUpdates and maintains organization’s digital contentCollaborates with managers to identify trends and evaluate advertising to determine whether it is in sync with the organization’s public relation effortsCompetenciesSuperior written and verbal communication skillsFamiliarity with the latest PR trends and best practicesKnowledge of consumer marketingCreative thinkingInquisitiveReporting skillsAttention to detailsAble to work independentlyAble to work under pressurePreferred ExperienceExtensive experience with various social media platforms3+ years or experience working public relations field, preferably in the non-profit human services sectorRequired EducationBA in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing or related fieldWork EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment.
