Description:

Wire EDM Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating and troubleshooting Wire EDM machines to produce precision components. The ideal applicant must have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret blueprints for complex parts.Applicant must be a US citizen.

Access to DoD facilities is required. Company is not able to sponsor work visa or this position.Sign On BonusCollins Machine Works offers a sign-on bonus in the amount of $2,000 to be paid after six months of satisfactory employment performance. Collins Machine Works also offers employee referral bonuses in the amount of $1,000 per referral to be paid after the referred employee has completed six months of satisfactory employment performance.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSet up and operate CNC Wire EDM machines to cut and shape various precision partsProperly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machinesRecognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and toolingRead and interpret applicable drawings and blueprints of work to be performed and follows instructionsMust be able to determine the proper tools required to perform given taskOperates and utilizes lifting aids as necessary to perform workUse precision measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)Perform daily, regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipmentAbility to read travelersPerform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner while maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsWork overtime as needed on evenings and/or weekendsCommunicates with others to coordinate work in plantOther duties as assignedBenefitsMedical, Dental and Vision Insurance401K with company matchPaid Time OffShort Term Disability and basic Life Insurance provided by companySupplementary Insurance: Accident, Critical Illness, Voluntary Life/AD&D, and Long Term Disability availableEmployee Assistance ProgramsOpportunity for yearly bonus, profit sharing, overtime, and night shift differential

Position Requirements

QualificationsUnderstanding of Wire EDM process, setup, and maintenanceUnderstanding of G, D, and THigh school diploma or GED3 to 5 years related experience is preferredLanguage skills - effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful mannerAbility and willingness to learnAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variablesA strong, proven interest in engineering and mechanical systemsRead blueprints and precision measuring toolsAbility to perform basic mathematical computationsAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situationsMust have basic machinist toolsPHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to move or transfer products with an overhead craneAbility to lift and move up to 50 lbs. at a time when requiredWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach overhead with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb ladders, and use stairsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focusThe employee will also be expected to spend time using a computerWORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
